I lurked and read a lot before signing onto SSC. To all you veteran quitters, thank you for staying here and offering advice and encouragement. It's because of you that I joined. I'm glad that Bear started this thread - thanks Bear! This is a good stimulus to get us talking & checking in & thinking. For me, I wonder about those people that we no longer hear from - I always hope that it's because they're doing well and have moved forward in a different direction (and a smoke-free one). But, at the same time I worry. I myself "disappeared" for around 3 months - this was due to some personal circumstances which didn't allow me the opportunity to visit the SSC. While I remained smoke-free, I felt guilty about this absence. But I was welcomed back with open arms. That's how wonderfully supportive the people here are! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Yeah the weekend was a bit rough, but at the end of the day, it felt good to have gotten through it and now here I am facing week four. Some days are good and others a little harder. The craves are still there, but not as strong that's for sure. I love being a non-smoker though. I can actually say that now and mean it. I guess that's a good sign. Feeling a little down today..This is where I'm at in this stage of my quit. Starting a new week! Mimi

Many members only stay until they receive what they need. Your support and knowledge is imperative to everyone, as there are many lurkers and they sometimes only read and do not post. We are glad that many stay to help further support and encourage the journey :) Josie, Health Educator

Bear, I remember when YOU joined up.. Posted like crazy and joined in all the fun! It does take all sorts but it is no coincidence that many who come here with your attitude are still with us 6 months, 1 year etc down the line! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 721 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 21,630 Amount Saved: 5,407.50 Life Gained: Days: 117 Hrs: 13 Mins: 23 Seconds: 45

Yeah, I had a few triggers this weekend too, but managed to NOT light up! I have had one cigarette in a pack for the past 2 weeks, just look at it longingly occasionally (LOL), and I had wanted it to be "there" as a token of my last cig. I looked and it was gone! PANIC!! I really started to panic...then I thought..what the heck is THAT all about? So, I examined my reasons for keep "just one" around and realized that the fact it was no longer here was about the best thing for me! And, the Super Bowl was a bit rough, but we stayed home and watched the game and had lots of healthy munchies to snack on, so we made it. My lab is 10 months old, close to 95 pounds and still all puppy energy, so that keeps me busy, thank goodness. Have a good one, Jazz..glad to know there are still a few of us January quitters staying quit!! Hey Islandgirl. How's things? Look at your meter - wow! You're right - we're doing it!! I had a great weekend with our 2 dogs. Hubby and I took them down to the lake again, and threw the ball for hours on the ice. They were exhausted. Got out on the snowmobiles again, and lots of shovelling snow. We had a few triggers this weekend (esp. Sat. night), but we worked our way through it.
