Here where i live our Hospital allows NO smoking any where on the grounds, and at any time of the day you can see the nurses and mecical staff out on the public sidewalks having their smokes, i know they have to be worn out by the time they get to the sidewalk and then all the way back to the hospital, i use to be a dental assistant and i know i must have smelled just awful to the paitents, until i quit smoking i never noticed how many of the paitents smelled of smoke when they sat in the chair, quitting continues to open our eyes as the years go by, its good to see you newbies in here posting , you will see its a fun place to quit :) Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 2006 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 40,120 Amount Saved: $7,021.00 Life Gained: Days: 286 Hrs: 19 Mins: 27 Seconds: 37

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hi Islandgirl, It's true, as you know, a lot of caregivers smoke. No one's exempt from this terrible addiction. I found myself rationalizing why I smoked during breaks. Things like, I've had such a stressful day, one of my patients just passed-away. The ironic thing about it, a lot of my patients died of smoke related diseases. I guess I was in denial or just plain crazy to smoke. I feel so sorry for those who had to endure the smoking odour that followed me back into the hospital! I will be grabbing onto you you and others for support! I really don't want to smoke anymore! Hey Susie Noticed you are an RN Don't you find it amazing the amount of health care professionals that still smoke? I am saying this from experience....and I know you can understand that. My daughter works at a local hospital and while it is a very stressful job, it still amazes me how many of the professionals still smoke. I wonder if they realize how apparent it is to the patients when they return back inside from their breaks? Good to have you aboard! In a world consisting of over 6.6 billion people 30% or 1.9 billion people suffer from some sort of debilatating addiction.Alcohol and nicotine account for 20% or 1.3 billion casualties give or take a few million.Kind of makes you wonder what this old world is coming to do'snt it. :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 320 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,760 Amount Saved: $3,200.00 Life Gained: Days: 77 Hrs: 21 Mins: 37 Seconds: 19
