I would recommend avoiding any and all smokers in the beginning of your quit, if at all possible; even if they are good friends. I told my smoking friends that I would not be able to see them for a while, but we did talk on the phone to stay in touch with each other.
Stay out of bars where smoking is allowed.
Tell your smoking friends NOT to give you or offer you any cigs when you happen to be around them.
If you live with a smoker, ask them to please keep their cigs somewhere where you can not see them or have access to them. And to smash any long butts to pieces, so they are unsmokeable.
