Back again, just to finish off what I was rambling on about. I spoke to some people recently who had also quit, about dealing with smokers. As has already been said, most wanted to be polite about letting smokers smoke in their presence, but to their regret found themselves again in the situation of the one suffering most. I suppose when one thinks about it, having smoked in the presence of non smokers for many years, it is a little difficult to take that we suddenly become moralistic about the whole thing.
I am in the strange position of being the boss, so that when I smoked I would happily organise breaks around my cravings. Now that I am not smoking it does seem a little unfair to my ex partners in crime not to allow them the time to smoke. Because quite frankly I can sympathise with them.
On the other hand I recently spent Christmas vacation in Ireland, where it is totally forbidden to smoke in any enclosed space, but to be honest I cannot say I felt put upon by those making the laws. I can certainly agree that bars restaurnats and hotels are much cleaner and certainly smell a lot better than they used to. The downside is that if you are with a group of any size where the majority are smokers you will easily tire of the breaks in the evening due to people coming and going to get their fix. The famous pub atmosphere is no longer the same, as with no smoking laws, drinking and driving law enforcement, it seems a lot easier for many to buy in a couple of bottles and stay at home.
Well I guess I have gone on quite enough for one day. Keep up the good work guys and looking forward as always to your posts,
