My quit date

Terry: I will be thinking of you tomorrow. When I quit, I just kind of did it with the enthusiasm of a 5 year old. It was Christmas night and I was heading alone down the New York Thruway. For some reason at around 7 pm, I just blew off my last smoke and called it quits. The following morning I got up and then started to plan. Not a great example perhaps. However, I will tell you this, quitting is all about belief in ones self and at times sheer determination. We have been sleep walking through the smoking behaviour for years and it has planted itself deeply in the those tender bits and pieces of our souls. However, once we wake ourselves up to the imposition this addiction has become in our lives we get mad. Eventually that anger gets put into the procss of quitting and pretty soon you find you have broken the cycle. Don't forget to have loads of cold water available. I do not know why, but a bottle of the clear liguid saved my quit many many times. Try not to look forward to much. The time between here and there will pass, you just need to work through the moments in your own way. Terry I will be pulling for you tomorrow. Just have your stuff ready. Water, straws, water, candy, water, SSC, water, SSC get the idea. Also, what worked for me was the first 3 steps, turning it over to my higher power. You have the strength, use it. All it is one moment at at time, one hour or one day. Get a pillow to scream into. Hot baths with good smelling bath washes. You could wash all of your things to get the smoke smell out of them. Lot of things to do. You can do this if you want to quit more than you want to smoke. Sorry to hear about your son's friend. Ah, he's 18 and I am not as important as I think I am when It comes to being a support for him. LOL Just kidding. He's off with his friends and he doesn't live with me but I'll see him in the morning then I'm back home and lock myself in and start refinishing his bedroom and make it mine again. I figure putting myself away from the human population is probably a real good idea while I do this for the first 2 days at least until I have to go back to work. :eg:

I feel pretty much in control. Shane passed away this morning. I have not smoked too much. I still have 4 to last me the day and I still intend to give this my best shot in the morning. Thank You for all of your support. I'll check in before I go to the gym. Haven't been all week since I've been at the hospital most of it. Terry
