How many times?...............

Hi Kristilu I haven't been here as much lately but I KNOW that this group will NEVER give up on you. Are you using NRT's, chantix? For some people these help but for others it is much easier to just get the nicotine out of their system. That first week is hell (I agree...you need to work on hell "moments")Sometimes I just crawled into bed with my remote and had a little pity party. (That was when I wasn't posting again and again on SCC) It does get better .... just keep reminding yourself. Kristilu, I quit again the next day after the slip on Day 1 because of anger at myself, guilt and shame - and the fact that I had to come on here and 'fess up... works for me... I'm thinking about you and hoping that you start your quit again right now... Look at all the people who are on your side here!!! Wow! Thank you everyone!!! I love you guys! Yall are sooo good to me and so helpful. I don't know how to repay you except to quit for good. I am going to do it this time. 3rd times a charm right? Work is sooo my trigger. I overcame the morning trigger, the after lunch trigger and the after work trigger. Now I have to get ready for those work triggers. I will take a walk around the place next time. And if it gets too bad, I'll just go home. That is better than smoking. And I will post and read and work my way thru those moments. I'm going to buy me a family size bag of suckers tonight and prepare for the week. One day at a time, even one minute at a time, I can do this. Well you are back, that is good. Beating yourself will not help, celebrate that you are back. You know I would not be quit today if it were not for the people here. Like you I would quit and then I would smoke and then I would quit and then I would smoke, you know the drill. You know what? They never ever gave up on me. I am sure some wanted to and did for awhile, but they are here with me today. I promise you I will never give up on you as long as you are committed to your quit. Maybe you just need a little more help, I did. Have you talked to your doctor? There are some wonderful aids out there that can help you though the rough spots. I wish I had done it sooner, but pride wouldn't let me. Some may be a little pricey, but well worth it when you think of what smoking will cost you in the long run. Now be good to yourself and I will get a shovel and help you bury the junkie. Awww Kristilu; You are hurting yourself by giving in to the crave, and then hurting yourself again by how you feel about it. Be kinder to you on both counts- you deserve it. I wondered where you were this weekend Kristilu. Dig deep, review your quit reasons and arm yourself. Look at why you gave in this last time, what will do you differently this time. There is a lot of wisdom here, do some reading next time you get a crave. If it were easy everybody would do it, it is worth it and it does get easier - I promise, but you need to give it some time. I am glad to see you back :) Take it easy on yourself and try to relax, pamper yourself a bit, and get your head right. I know you can do this, you are tough. I am here to help you any way I can :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 262 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,620 Amount Saved: $458.50 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 13 Mins: 49 Seconds: 26

kristilu, Do you have a plan in place for the triggers that keep getting to you? It's like going on a roadtrip - you got to have a map! Maybe three strategies for every trigger that you will do before lighting up. My doctor told me on Day 9 that I had to understand that I would ALWAYS have the choice to smoke and it is so true. He also said if I had a craving to take a picture of a loved one(s) and stare at it for two minutes and see if I still wanted to smoke. I thought that was pretty clever and I made it past Day 9 ;) Hang tough My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1263 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,260 Amount Saved: $5,683.50 Life Gained: Days: 98 Hrs: 11 Mins: 5 Seconds: 42

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

How many times? I've got 2 answers; #1 only this one last time. You make that last cigarette you had your LAST. You never take another puff. Never, ever. But, K, you got to want it. It sounds as if you really do want to quit, you just have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. (thanks Lady!) #2 NONE! You will never have to go through the stress of quitting again because you never try again. You give up on yourself. But, let it be said that no one here will ever give up on you. Please don't give up on yourself! And stop being so hard on yourself. Quitting is not easy but, it can be done if it is what you want. I don't know, but given a choice of #1 or #2, I would always choose #1 (being a mother and a pet owner and all ;p) Get those chili cheese fritos out and jump right back on it! You know you have support and here is my hand for you to hold when you need it! Ah Kristilu, I am feeling your pain. Try to figure out what happened to make you give in, and find a way to work through it the next time. It is a matter of finding what works for you to get through each craving. If gum helps, use it, or candy, or posting, or screaming...do what it takes. You are an addict, and the only way to overcome an addiction is to realize you can't ever touch a cigarette again, no matter what. Close the possiblity of ever smoking by closing the door to them and it will help you! Hang in there. You can do this! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 321 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,025 Amount Saved: $3,386.55 Life Gained: Days: 42 Hrs: 3 Mins: 59 Seconds: 26
