The Unexpected

Cassy, Let's face it, withdrawals are no fun! In addition to withdrawing to the toxic chemicals smoking introduced, there are also many changes going on in your body. When you smoked, nicotine triggered the release of neurotransmitters in your brain. These neurotransmitters are responsible for good mood. When you quit, it isn't uncommon for your mood to take a nose dive. This case of the blues is temporary and until it passes, there are a few things you can do: * Exercise as it releases endorphins and these are also conducive to good mood. * Rewarding yourself with something pleasurable. This triggers the same release of neurotransmitters we mentionned. * Get outside and get adequate rest as these also affect your mood. Please feel free to share your experiences and what worked for you! Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Stay strong Cassy! So far I have been able to predict my cravings, and I thought I was done with cravings for the day. But then my 6th grader started having trouble with fractions on his math homework :quest: OMG - Junkie nicodemon was screamin for a hit!!! So, I just sat really still and closed my eyes and tried to think good thoughts. And it passed, as they all will. We just have to get thru them 2 minutes at a time... We can do this. Hammer the junkie! Thank you everyone. I am such a whiner lately. I'm even driving myself nuts. I wonder is that a symptom. Feeling really down like everything is going wrong. I feel better today and went to work, but I was impossible there too. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Whatever it is I know it will pass. However, the whining needs to pass now because I can't stand this. I want to see my glass as half full not half empty. CRY BABY!! :)

Ohhhhh! So sorry to hear that you are sick also!! I hope you recover quickly, that must be hard, having two kids sick as well as yourself. Do take good care of yourself, get lots of rest with plenty of water, to get the virus out as well as the nicotine and chemicals. And yet another first for you! First illness without cigarettes! Keep strong and take care! Hello Everyone, Thanks for your thoughts. Last night around 12:00 I got what my girls have. I didn't sleep much and had to call in sick to work but the great news is that I feel so horrible that I'm not even thinking about smoking. Well maybe two little cravings but nothing that would push me into a fit like yesterday. Thanks again for all your support and hopefully tomorrow this nasty illness will go away.
