Don't feel silly about posting on here. the first few days are the toughest and that's when you will need the most support, and this is where you will get it. My experience with this site and it's quitters has been absolutely wonderful and I couldn't have done it without them. you will get a wide range of responses from people who have just quit (great to share current experiences with) and people who have some time under their belt. Either way every single person here is either going through or has gone through exactly what you are going through and that's the best part. Read as much as possible on here and post whenever you need to, that's what's so great about all the people on here is that they are more than happy to help you not smoke. I know the first couple days were really tough for me but everyday I posted and everday I got responses that made me feel like I had enough support to not ever lay a hand on a pack of smokes again! Glad to hear you have a fantastic attitude! The better the attitude the easier and more fun this quit will be. You are right, your body and mind is strong and you are a quitter! It is so empowering to beat an addiction like this. I could actually tell with my run yesterday that my lungs are healing and I wasn't so out of breath. It feels amazing to be a non smoker, especially when the toughest parts are over, you've gone at least 1 full day keep up the good work! It is do-able, now just do it! yes, yes and yes!! You can do it Kristilu! Keep up that thinking. And take it just one minute at a time right now. Just think, this first day will be behind you in no time. Pat youself on the back for staying strong! And, there is no such thing as being silly about posting thru cravings. Boy ole boy, we have all been there! The only silly thing would be NOT to post when you need support. Hang in there!! You aredoing awesome! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 171 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,130 Amount Saved: $820.80 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 15 Mins: 38 Seconds: 15

THANKS MOSS!!! I WILL NOT GO TO THE STORE AND RUIN MY QUIT BEFORE IT GETS STARTED. I WILL NOT GO DOWN TO THE SMOKING OFFICE TO BUM A CIGARETTE. MY LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS TO WASTE ON A NASTY CIGARETTE, QUITTING IS EASIER THAN DYING..... I LOVE MYSELF AS A NON SMOKER, I DON'T STINK, I CAN BREATHE, I AM STRONG, AND I AM A QUITTER. I AM PUTTING MY BODY IN CHECK! NO MORE NICOTINE!!! GET USED TO IT!! :eg: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 0 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 1 Mins: 9 Seconds: 15

Lainey is right - Not silly at all. And listen to Lainey's advice. She has helped me a great deal. Vent away - we have all been there. A member named Nonic told me early in my quit to "stay in the present". That turned out to be very important. Don't worry about tomorrow or next week, They will come whether you worry about them or not. Congrats for making a decision to make your life better. And remember there is help thru whatever comes your way. Just had a snack, just need to post thru this craving... Trying to breathe and think about something else. Still not wearing the patch, and haven't smoked since 930 last night. I know this seems so silly probably compared to the people that haven't smoked in months, but i think this first day was a hurdle and I'm doing better than I thought I would. I know the 2nd week will be a doozy too. Just glad to have the support. kristilu, Invest in a crave basket for work and home! Use items such as gum, candy, veggies, books, water, magazines, and crosswords. If you are craving, pick something from the basket and use it to help you through :) Josie, Support Specialist

Hi Kristilu, Congratulations and Welcome!! Work can be stressful on a new quitter so make sure to have plenty of back up. Stock yourself with water, hard candy anything to help you get past any urges you'll have. Keep telling yourself your a non smoker. In your down time at work read as many of the post here it will help to keep your mind occupied. Use the workbook to the left and post often even if it's just to check in!! You can do this!!!
