Day 1 ! Doin good so far!!

16 years ago 0 392 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Today is so far, way better than yesterday. I even had someone tell me that I looked soooo pitiful yesterday. Made me feel like a junkie. Which I guess I was. "WAS" being the keyword. Today, my chest hurt a little less while walking and so far I haven't had what I would call a serious craving. Yesterday, like clockwork , my body was trying to rebel at my normal smoke breaks, so I just took a cup of water outside and stood where I normally stood and drank my water. Take that! I'm hanging in there.....Thanks guys for all of your support! - It really does help. You guys are doing great posting your way through the first couple days. I, too, remember vividly how stressful the 1st few days were. I seemed to think of nothing but cigarettes, but... it definitely does get better! Try to keep yourself busy. Before you know it you'll have weeks/months behind you & the sense of accomplishment you will feel is phenomenal. I know it sounds silly, but one thing that helped me in the early days of my quit was a lack of long-term committal. I lived minute to minute & day to day. When a member of senior management commended @ 1 week, I asked him not to. I told him that I couldn't speak for tomorrow, next week or next month. I think that attitude was drawn from a a fear of failure. Now that I know the hardest part is behind me & I'm starting to reap some of the benefits of not smoking, I have the strength & courage to admit that I'm in it for the long-haul. After all, who wants to go through hell/heck weeks all over again. Kristilu, Den, Hang in there. I quit around a week before you guys so I can still remember, quite vividly, the first three days. At the time, I said that they sucked so badly that they belonged in a category of their own - even WORSE than hell. You're doing great, both of you, and please keep in mind that it WILL GET BETTER. The first days suck, sure, but day two is easier than day one, day three's easier still - it gets better all the time. Be strong - it is SO worth the effort. Kristilu, You got three days you need to get through. Whatever it takes dont give up! Definitely try the baby carrots. Something about the crunch and snap really helps and it keeps your hands kind of busy so that helps a little too. After day three try some really good fruit you will be totally jazzed with how the flavors will dazzle your taste buds. Bite into a lemon, I dare ya! And you will love it, I promise! Cherries, Clementines and strawberries on day three. Eat fruit, it is important. Trust me! Thanks Den! Still having a hard time and it is almost 8. I am just so tense. But, my husband came home this afternoon and said that he was going to tough it out with me.... so he's not smoking either. My head is fuzzy and i think my eyes are crossing, but i'm hanging in....i'm thinking i'm going to have to wear that patch maybe tomorrow. Hi Krisi Just posted on my thread called "This sucks" (coping with w/d symptoms) to give you the run down on the past two days for me. Today was definitely better physically, but your are right the real troubles start when i get home, i need to keep myself busy 24/7 so that i don't have time to think about smoking or not smoking, however you want to look at it. Yeah doing the food thing is showing up for me too. Although i am choosing apples, carrots and yogurt, that's about all i have in the house right now that is fast and easy to eat. Keep up the great work!! I'll be here cheering you on!! Hey Den, I survived the day at work, but have been having trouble since I got home. I just keep shoving food in my mouth, (I know, bad.), but I can't get rid of it. I feel like I'm spamming the message boards, but it's helping me cope right now. Thanks for checking on me!! I take it you did okay today? Hey Kristi Just checking in to see how you are surviving on "day one". That was yesterday for me - it was HELL. It's good that you have been posting so much, to get the support during those craving times must be a big help. Take care and here's to another smoke free day! Thank yall so much!! It really, really helps to have responses to my ramblings during a craving. It makes it easier knowing you are not alone in this battle. For the moment , I am much better and not having to talk to myself as much. Good thing because I'm at work and people are starting to give me the eye!
