i'm a girl who just dosent do the lip gloss thing. so im thinking, assesories for my bicycle, a foreign paper (and the time to read it), a trip to the museum. any food rewards (what's ten pounds !! plump and healthy or skinny and hacking?) or put the cash you're saving (for your camera) in a place you can see it daily. Of course, the rewards don't have to be about money and buying yourself 'things' be they lipstick or aftershave! Allow yourself the gift of guilt free time to do the crossword, read a book, listen to music without worrying that you should be doing something else. Just tell yourself you're worth it! Marcus, One and two sound good, but if you're looking for some more ideas, I bumped up a thread called "Free and Low Cost Rewards" There are lots of suggestions, and not just girly ones either ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 294 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,760 Amount Saved: $1,999.20 Life Gained: Days: 41 Hrs: 12 Mins: 44 Seconds: 36

I really am in France, but you're right - I'm not French. Brit expat, and for quite a while, too. As for the rewards, I'm making a list of what sounds good: 1) wine 2) goodness knows what else ;) Any more? marcus, that was me on day 74 ahhh, it may be long ago but I remember it fondly. I haven't done the lipgloss, eyeliner or makeover but I have managed the massage, chocolates and the "goodness knows what else"!! ;) In fact, my best reward ever was........ BTW, I note that you are in France but you don't seem very French to me. :) Good Luck on day 10 Penitent d1332 :)

Well, Mr Bear, there's this 39-year old female who has the misfortune to be married to me, and who doesn't like sharing, but thanks for the input anyhow. Penitent, I'm not keen on S+G, but wine's good - I can certainly do wine. So can the country I'm posting from. That's one of the things they're good at. I don't want to complain, but don't you think it unfair that the ladies get lipgloss, eyeliner, makeovers, massages, chocolates and goodness knows what else, and all we blokes get is the odd glass of plonk? :quest: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: 47.70 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 59 Seconds: 52

A little presumptuous Mr Bear! How about Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits and a Bottle of Valpolicella? Now, where have I heard THAT before? Cue Lizzie!! marcus, just treat yourself with anything, you deserve it! Penitent d1332 :)

I've been trying to follow all the advice I've seen on SSC since I got here. I read as many posts as I can. I've done the milestones. I fill in my craving diary. But there's one thing I haven't managed to do, and that's this rewards thing. I understand the need for it - I just can't think of that many things to reward myself WITH. I know I'm not the first to say this, but the feeling of pride in myself in having got this far is a pretty good reward. I'd just like to have a go at finding one or two small, material rewards for the first few weeks/months. Anyone have any ideas what a 49 year-old male could pamper himself with? Umm, expensive lipgloss is not really an option :) Oh, and I can't blow too much cash, as in six months I get to treat myself to a digital Nikon.
