Third day almost over, and still going good. It helps that it's freezing cold outside (we don't smoke in the house). Trying to stay away from the chocolate and pastries. Instead, preparing chicken/salad/vegetable/plain yoghurt combinations for the meals. Husband asking when we can return to eating real food. I told him "When asparagus stops tasting this good" :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 30 Amount Saved: 7.80 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 6 Mins: 43 Seconds: 40

Welcome CoteDAzur, Don't worry about the wine or coffee right now. The thing is take it an hour, and a day at a time. You should know when you can deal with whatever triggers you have. My worst one was after a meal, and I think you know that it isn't too easy to go without eating. Hang tough, and remember that you can do it. If a goofy dog like me can, anyone can. I am now in my third smoke-free day and it's going well. Thank you all for your support. Aside from being permanently hungry, I can't say I am suffering. I do think about how pleasant it would be to have a coffee and a cigarette while reading the paper, but it's not really bothering me. Is it even possible to not be physically addicted to cigarettes after years of smoking? It is almost as if the hours I spent reading through this site has hypnotized me into forgetting all about smoking. Not complaining at all, but just hoping I will not experience terrible cravings just when I feel brave enough to have a coffee or a glass of wine and find myself smoking again. Glad you're doing good Coted'Azure. I don't think I could do it having somebody around me smoking. It would be very hard. But if I made my mind up it would be possible. Anything is possible. Keep up the good work. Welcome, You did it before....you can do it again. Those past failures can be a real benefit. I know I learned allot from my past failures. Each time you strenghten yourself and learn something about yourself and the addiction. You can do this.
