PS I kind of overlooked your comment about considering smoking at 3pm tomorrow...Well, I could threaten you with physical violence...or maybe throw darts at an Avril Lavigne calendar. Hummm. Kev, So after years of supressing your feelings, they are finally emerging at the surface. Well done! You will get better at handling these situations with more time and experience. In the long term, you will probably be calmer than you were as a smoker...I certainly am, although it did take time to get there. However, there is nothing like never-smokers to bring a quitter close to homicide! ...Anyway.... Tell your Dad from me that you deserve your presents from Mr Amazon. But do try and make them planned rewards rather than impulse buys. Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1714 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,710 Amount Saved: 6,427.50 Life Gained: Days: 176 Hrs: 8 Mins: 23 Seconds: 28

Good Morning everyone. Hope everyone is ok and having a good 2008 so far. While I have a little time I thought I would write. Its been very busy so I haven't been my normal writing self. No coffee time stories for a while. I awoke early (no hangover) and had a shower and was fully dressed by 9am. I changed over my calendar from Buffy to Avril Lavigne and sorted out the recycling. I am starting this year on a positive foot. If I feel organised and clear in my mind, then I am much happier. Today there is a certain amount of clarity, so I am doing my finances and tidying my room. I worry that I may have gone slightly overboard on the January sales and what my parents will say when mr amazon turns up at the end of the week. I get a lot of stick from my dad about mr amazon knowing me personally. I am trying to think of it as a reward for making it through the NYE celebrations smokefree. Something that I did not expect to do. At this point I have a mental picture of Kelly with her pea sized amount of shampoo. Strange how that stuck in my head. I have one more major thing that can persuade me to smoke before I make 6 months quit and that happens tomorrow at 3pm. By 10am on Thursday you will know if I am still with you smokefree or just with you in spirit. I am hoping that all the reading I am doing will help me cope a bit better this year. This time of year we see many falter and we also see many start a flourishing new quit as part of their new year resolutions. Its part of the balance of life. Before I go on with my usual stories, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year in advance. I'm getting it in now as I know we come from very varied timeframes. Well, the fun has already started for me. I lost the plot this morning as my parents picked up on the no smoking messages that get shoved down your throat at this time of year. It had started of as a small segment featuring a celeb chef who smokes arguing about really how good these draconian smoking measures really are (all this talk is relating to the new French smoking ban). It all became a little out of control as real examples of a person I know who has lung and mouth cancer and will die soon having refused chemo were thrown at me. I took the ultra offensive approach I am afraid about that particular issue and even stated that I didn't give a monkeys about life, that I couldn't watch that rubbish on tv and stormed out of the room. I then spent 1 hour pacing the garden and deep breathing. Eventually my mum came out into the garden and I burst into tears and apologised to her and she apologised to me. All of this before work! It was a harsh reminder of how close I teeter to the black hole of total collapse, on a constant basis. Crushed by the weight of my own thoughts. Always so close to going back to smoking, yet somehow managing to avoid doing so. Just like all things, a little time and something to take my mind off it (most importantly) and I become less of an angry individual and more happy, joking Kev (of which I am much better at playing). Eventually, I may be able to control my feelings on smoking a bit better. Anyway, I am proud of everyone who manages to not smoke tonight and those who try but slip too. It is the effort that you put in that counts. Just wanted to write my thoughts down :) HUGS from Kev My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 172 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,300 Amount Saved: 722.40 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 13 Mins: 29 Seconds: 10

Hi Kev! It's so great to read how well you are doing. You are almost at 6 months! So spectacular! I don't know about all this chocolate talk though - I seem to have traded one addiction for another! LOL! At least this one doesn't make me smell bad or cough! :) Hugs! - Freemom My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 275 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,300 Amount Saved: $1,122.00 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 12 Mins: 5 Seconds: 7

You guys can have my chocolate! Can you believe my husband bought me 4 pounds of Harry & David Truffles for Christmas?! Doesn't he know that I recently quit smoking?! Kevin you are too sweet to notice my 75 days coming up! I didn't realize that it was a milestone. I was hoping for a white Christmas too, and we did have a few flakes fall, witch caused a white Boxing Day! (I actually never heard of Boxing Day until I read about it here!) We did get quite a bit of snowfall in our mountains here in Oregon. I went skiing today! First time ever skiing without a smoke break! As far as New Years Eve celebrations go, I'm with you. I will be spending a quiet evening at home, protecting my quit. Next year I will party twice as hard!
