Grandma, He will have to quit in his own time and his own way but we can give him a nudge in the right direction. I took the welbutrin and it did nothing for me but the Chantix did seem to help. Maybe you could just show him the site tell him you want him to see what helped you. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 286 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,580 Amount Saved: $2,788.50 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 21 Mins: 58 Seconds: 2

I like the way Mercy explained quitting smoking.... It is similar to going on a diet. You can loose weight but you have to maintain it during the process. If you don't you will put the weight right back on. Grandma, just be there for support. You are definately a wonderful roll model and great mother in law to even care! Grandma, Your heart is in the right place! Continue to support your sil and let him know that there are other avenues for assistance. (Leave the url where he can see it!) He will make the choice on his own, but a little push couldn't hurt :) Josie, Support Specialist

You're right, Grandma, that alone probably isn't going to do it but my ex quit once on Wellbutrin just because he said they didn't taste good anymore. Hmm. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 127 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,810 Amount Saved: $742.95 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 9 Mins: 55 Seconds: 26

I've been here forever and has really helped. My sil found out at dentist there is a suspicious spot on his cheek so had to go to Dr. for biopsy which they said wait until he quits spicey foods in 2 weeks. Well he used to chew also besides smoking a few a day as he says. I've seen a lot more than a few at bar b ques. anyhow he has presription for welbutrin which he thinks will make him stop smoking but I keep telling him he needs to come here how do you get someone to do this I try to tell him how I quit and don't do it but it doesn;t sink in, just taking welbutrin isn't gonna help. or is it??
