Make sure your desire to quit is stronger than your desire to light up... And always be aware that everyone's quit is as different as we all are... What works for one - or what challenges one - may not challenge you or me... So own your quit and protect at all times above everything else... Your quit, especially within the first few months, is like a newborn baby... it needs to be protected and kept out of harms way... Carry your quit on a satin pillow and watch it and care for it. Ask for support when you need it... AND read old posts... Shevie's and Lady's posts kept me grounded and Quit when I first found this site... do a search and allow their grace and wisdom (and humanity) to Light the way for YOU... Yes addicts all. Reaching out for support is paramount. Reading old posts was for me a life line into a whole new world. There are great posts from Rusty, Hummybird, Ros, Duffis, Golferman, Rob47, Butterfly Swimmer, Lady Bugg. To name a few, and there are more just search on any topic and they will come up!. All of these quitters and yes Lady and Shevie have so much insight and inspiration to give. I for one am eternally grateful for the care and support offered by the great quitters who stick around and offer huge amounts of great support to every quitter on the site. Want, imagine, do. Simple, isn't it? I've never heard of the "7 tries" average, stickin. Thanks for the info. The quitters who get it right the first time are very rare. To anyone who may be reading this right after a slip/relapse, know that you can do it. You just have to try again. Maybe you'll be on the low end of the group, or maybe you'll be on the high end. Doesn't matter. Isn't important. What is important is that you keep trying until you succeed. Want to quit. Want freedom from nicotine. Want a better, longer life. Want it so bad, so deeply that it overrides the want to smoke. Imagine life as a non-smoker. No more cutting after-dinner time short to go out for a smoke. No more getting antsy in the non-smoking section of anywhere. No more fear of long flights. No more feelings of guilt at putting a smoke ahead of anything. No more going out into the heat/cold/rain/snow every hour. No more burn holes in your clothes. No more panic when you realize you don't have enough cigs for the night. Imagine... Do quit. Just do it. Whatever it takes. Do cold turkey, do NRT, do non-nicotine drugs, do cold laser therapy, do acu-whatever, do anything not listed here, do any combination of the above. Do it.
