Hi everyone, Penitent, Nice to see you. I thought you had floated off. Happy New Year to you and Luna. I'm intending to work on training for a permanent better mindset now. I'm glad you can see improvements in it already. I am feeling good right now. Kelly, let me put that curiosity at rest. I was a lot more tense this year compared to last year. But then again I am not behind my emotion free smoke cloud. Penguin, Nice to see you. I'm glad you are around. I thought all my firecracker friends had fluttered their wings and flown the roost. We will both be partying when the time comes. This time, I will start a thread for all my firecracker friends so we can celebrate together as each of us pass the big 180 days. Tresa, sorry for not writing for a while. Its been really hectic around these parts. I took some shots of Grace for you. She has changed quite a bit. Sue, I have always loved your confidence in me. Often misplaced, but it is always nice. Plus I love hearing from you. ..still carrying the good vibes on. Kev, Early congratulations for 6 months quit (I know you are easily going to make it to January 12 just like you do) and don't let that positive mindset drop. Just keep on keeping on! Penitent d1325 :)

I'm glad you made it through unscathed, Kev. I'm curious, though, did you feel less tense during the appraisal this year than you did last year when you smoked? Any differences at all that you can attribute to quitting? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 131 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,930 Amount Saved: $766.35 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 21 Mins: 13 Seconds: 29

Brenna, how could I have missed that. Thanks for reminding me. 1 Birth of my beautiful niece Grace. Luckily I think forgetfulness is a symptom of quitting, so I can get away with accidentally forgetting momentus occasions. Smoking ban comes in proper in bars and cafes in France for anyone interested. Givem that France has a cafe culture like we have a bar culture, things could be interesting. It will be interesting to see if they go the way of the italians and completely ignore the ban en mass. JDK, Thanks for the update. Didn't you make it through becoming an uncle too? I think that counts as a pretty major event :). Stay strong, six months is just around the corner! Brenna, Bilingual Support Specialist

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Afternoon. I am back now to let you know how I got on. Well, I am proud to say that I am still with you. Smokefree? ..... Well I couldn't smoke knowing what positive suggestions I got. I had to make use of those suggestions instead of lighting up as I would normally do. It means that I stand a great chance to make 6 months for the first time in my entire life. Also it means that my Avril Lavigne calendar is safe from Lizzies darts! :) So far I have managed to be smokefree through the following major events (for me anyway) : 1 extraction and 2 fillings 2 Doctors Appointments 1 Christmas 1 New Years Eve celebration 1 Appraisal That just plain rocks! To quote a well known song 'I get by with a little help from my friends'. As I go along this smokefree road, I get to help others who struggle too by showing that it really can be done. Thats my little way of giving back to this wonderful site. To show that I am not always down I would just like to say : YIPPEE YIPPEE YIPPEE :) :) :) So what happened? I took everything on the chin. The report was actually very quit affected in that the people writing on me wrote about how my confidence to do anything shattered into tiny shards. They don't know why though. Hopefully, if Lizzie is right (and I trust her implictely) then within 1 year I will have made it back to normality. In the meantime, you are stuck with ever-so-slightly emotionally unstable Kev :) Even though somewhere makes me feel like I should be smoking to celebrate making it through without blubbering. There is also a great feeling of being positively affected by my friends. It feels great. Apologies if this doesn't translate well. Its very hard to describe. Its weird but cool. Congratulations to Sue and John on a wonderful 8 months. Hope you get all the chocolate you desire. Reward chocolate contains no calories! HUGS from Kev 174 days smokefree, happy and proud!
