Hey Frosty, I know exactly what You are going through, With the Stress with everyday life, or that Roller-Coaster ride that just seems to never end, But You have to learn to emporivize, I took up excercising everyday when I first quit, and I still do day after almost 5 years without a cigerette touching my lips, I do like a fast walk for like 2 1/2 miles every aday, It's such a Great Stress Reliever for Anyone, or even a Health Club this time of year is good, When I first quit smoking, There was an article in my home town Newspaper, How this lady Quit Smoking by only the use of a Milkshake straw, She cut it in half, and everytime She had this craving or a yearn for a cigerette, She'd put this straw in Her mouth for 4 or 5 minutes, until the stress, cravings, or that terrible yearn for cigerette left Her, Tell me which is better for You, that cig, or puffing on a straw, It really did work for me, It is a little like have a passifier to calm You down, So try it, It's really not habit forming, Wish You all the best, I also quit on the 10th of the month, Take care, and if all else fails, Get The Eye Of The Tiger,, or play the tune on Youtube You came to the right place here, Smokless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1750 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 52,500 Amount Saved: $7,490.00 Life Gained: Days: 409 Hrs: 7 Mins: 25 Seconds: 39

Hey Frosty, you're doing great! Yes stress is a nasty trigger for alot of us. Make sure you have some strategies planned for times when the stress may get heavy, use self talk, have candy & gum, or straws available...make a plan in your mind ahead of time. These things will all help you get you those tough times, and make you stronger! Hang in there! You found the best place online for help! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 289 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,225 Amount Saved: $3,048.95 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 9 Mins: 0 Seconds: 10

Hi frosty, Good for you for recognizing one of your main triggers. I think those "unpleasant" interpersonal exchanges are triggers for many of us. We're used to heading for a cig when things get too uncomfortable, rather than learning to deal with them in a more productive way. I guess that is one of the more surprising things in this journey - how, if you stick with it, you get to become a better communicator about how you feel, who you are and what you will and will not accept. Hang in there when the going gets tough. Walk away from the situation to regroup, just don't smoke while you're doing it. I think we used to use a cig as a way to take a few minutes to ourselves when upset. You can still take those few minutes for yourself with something better, like a spray of perfume, a whiff of something you like, a splash of cold water, a drink of a beverage, a quick read or word puzzle, etc. Deep breaths, girl. You're doing great with almost 10 days. Keep going. It is so worth it. btw, is Frosty because of the season, or just a fortunate timing of your name and quit date coinciding? Hi Frosty Good to see you here. I've got 10 days in too and it's getting easier. My stressor is crowds...I can't handle it. So I'm trying to stay away from them as much as possible. This is holiday time and it's hard to do. Another stressor is being around people that smoke...I try to stay away from them too. I think it was yesterday but I walked by a person who was smoking and I could actually smell the toxins in the cigarette smoke. It made me realize how bad smoking is. I'm happy for you in deciding to quit. Keep up the good work.
