Welcome aboard the ship Eddie! Kick back, relax and wait for the rest of our awesome Octobreathers! I finally have a few minutes where I can post in peace. Things have been crazy for me lately. Sometimes I find it almost hard to believe that I haven't smoked in 8 weeks! There have been some pretty stressful moments (days) where I've thought that a smoke would sure be relaxing, but I resisted. It would only make me more stressed out because I would feel terrible about ruining my quit. I am proud to be a nonsmoker! One More Try, my husband still smokes too, and like yours thankfully he does not smoke around me. I think it will make our quits stronger knowing that cigarettes are right under our nose and we still choose not to smoke them. Goofy, your fortunate that your wife is quitting with you. I hope that is going better now. You are doing so amazing with your quit! I have been weaning off the chantix. I've been taking only one a day and will continue that through the holidays. I feel like I have a zillion things to deal with lately. Two of my girls have holiday B-days (not so great planning on my part), we have a talent show, band concert, holiday parties, etc, etc! Lets all try to focus on the true spirit of the holidays and enjoy it! Nice to see you Jody! I guess not all of us Octobreathers are stuck to our computers, like me and Goofy! LOL! It's all good. I hope the rest of us are still hanging in there. Maybe the rest of us are doing so well that they don't need to check in as often. I'm still doing great and amazing myself every day. I can't believe I'm actually going to get through the holidays without smoking!! This is an amazing accomplishment and something we should all be proud of. Thanks for all the responses and suggestions for dealing with the cold. Oh, I know, Canadian winters are harsh and I know I can handle it. I've been living in Canada my entire life. I can survive another winter. I guess I've never been a 'winter person'. I don't particularly enjoy skiing, or tobogganing or anything cold. I like the heat! :) I think I just wanted to vent a little......but really, don't worry about me. I'll continue to go to the gym, spend a lot of time indoors and look forward to next spring! One more try, There's no way to avoid winter living in Canada, unless of course, you move to Vancouver or Victoria but even then there is no guarantee any more :(. Running is a great thing to do outdoors (in warmer climates) and can be replaced with a variety of different activities in the winter. If you really love staying outside, get bundled up and try cross-country skiing. If you are like running this is usually an easy switch-over (it uses a lot of the same muscles and is a fairly similar motion) and it isn't quite as high impact as running so it's great for your joints too. You could also try swimming or just stick to the treadmill. All of these activities will definetly let you take advantage of your new and improved lung capacity! Brenna, Bilingual Support Specialist

Good Morning One More Try, I have trouble over the weekends with not smoking as well. Trying to keep busy seems to help. This weekend a friend will be in from Chicago. Of course he's a smoker, and I'll be playing golf with him and another friend that smokes. Somehow until this last October, that didn't bother me....It's great to be an Otobreather. Fortunately, I think it will be just us 3, so I'll get a cart for myself. Lots of work to do today. Keep warm...I will be.
