Hi Lizzie, Wow, thats true. I hear it is pretty monumental. Every day since day 5 has been an absolute first in every way. This time I am not going to say 'should I make it' or 'I won't make it'. In fact I am not going to think about it. :) You guys helped me to get a little less confused and back on an up cycle. I am really grateful for that. I'm just keeping it basic at the moment and concentrating on the good things and keeping the comment about there being no right or wrong way to quit in the forefront. Not worrying too much about the fact that I still gave into the fear of going out...well maybe just a little :) Good news is that I still managed to reward myself for 150 days. I ordered some bright red union flag beach towels. This may sound like a weird thing to buy, what with it being winter and all but there is logic behind my madness. It is to celebrate the fact that I really did actually make the beach, and I have stayed on it for 50 days after reaching it! Good afternoon everyone. Penguin, Nice to see you. I knew you hadn't disappeared :) (I keep an eye on who is logged in from time to time). Hi to my fellow firecracker. Hows you? It is tomorrow that I celebrate 150 days not smoked (it'll be your turn shortly penguin). I am going to party tomorrow so wanted to post today to say that I am really proud and glad to be here. There will be no moaning or despairing from me for at least a day :) I just realised that I share a milestone with Penitent! Happy 1300 days non smoking. You're right about Luna, she is a star. Sometimes efficiency with words makes it crystal clear to someone like me who was getting very confused. That is a true gift. HUGS to both of you. Hi Kev As much as it seems I've disappeared, I have been keeping track of my fellow July firecracker. You touched on one of the things that has kept me quit this time - INTENTION. Every time I think about buying the sticks, I ask myself this question "Do you INTEND to go back to the LIFE of a smoker?" Seems to put a stop to any further thinking right there. The answer is a resounding NO! It needn't go any further than that, does it? You don't have to be afraid of making any unintended detours. That is not your INTENTION. This is all about personal accountability and all about trying not to fall into the victim loop. 150 days on your meter isn't a chance number Kev. Give yourself all the credit for this. I challenge you to do no more today than strut about and reflect on what a fantastic achievement this is. You should be very very proud so, chin up, shoulders back, chest out - ALL DAY and if I see one post of yours here today that includes the words "...but on the other hand I'll probably....." Thats some powerful advice there. I am glad it is documented here for all to see. Luna and Lizzie, I think you are very very right. I read something about how I am supposed to be doing this, apply it to myself and then think 'OMG, I am doing it wrong'. If it needs interpretation then my mind just fills in the gaps. A prime example would be me reading 'You have to quit for you' and then thinking, well I didn't entirely quit for me, I know that above all I quit because a) I could not smoke in pubs and b) I wanted to stop my mum nagging me and for her to be proud of me. And that point I would think to myself 'Does that mean my quit is doomed?...probably yes'. From there I would go one notch down the spiral. But heres the catch. I actually want to stay quit. Thats what all that worrying is about. If I didn't want to stay quit I would have smoked by now (its not far to the shops). Lizzie, you're also very right about the freedom. Thats actually why I still go outside with the smokers. In this chilling wind it reminds me that if I didn't want to, I don't actually have to go outside every 30 mins. That makes me very happy. I'm not sure about the validity of the other statement though. I thought more about smoking as a quitter than quitting when I was a smoker. Mainly because I was a happy smoker. The health reasons would appear from time to time though. I found now that it is useful to have anyway so I am not only doing this because a book said I will need it for exercise 32. Honesty is something that I should have put at the top of the list. Of course honesty gets me into a lot of trouble too, but for sure, I would not be able to write like I do without my total 100 percent honesty. Sue, if cadbury's could be sent electronically, you would have had a yard long bar by now from me.
