mary You are absolutely correct it is one step at a time. And I know it is hard to be patient when all you mind does is tell you to return to the cycle and everything will be alright. But you already know that and apparently are experiencing the full monte right now. My heart goes out to you, I understand completely that one track, singular, seemingly unending urge to return to the morass of addiction. But you have experience on your side, you really do know at some level that this is a transition time for you. Perhaps it dosen't make it that much easier, but imagine if you did not have that knowledge on which to rely. Addiction really is round...But a some point we have to put a stick in the merry-go-round and bring it to a halt for good. Please hang in as best you can, I know that you are aware that it will lighten up eventually. Some day soon its all just going to go away and you will be able to a rational decision rather than having to live in the eye of an obsession. We are all wish you well and best of all to one degree or another can empathize with you...The best thing of all is that you are quite assuredly not alone... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 344 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,320 Amount Saved: $3,612.00 Life Gained: Days: 62 Hrs: 20 Mins: 29 Seconds: 43

Hey Mary. WTG. You are through the worst day. I was looking at your profile. Am I right in that you are a gardening grannie who loves Playstation Personal? That is so cool but does give me a bit of a funny picture in my head ... lol! Just think, by stopping smoking, you are giving your grandchildren the best gift ever - the gift of time spent with you as they grow up. You are also showing them another way to live ... smoke free, and if they ever take it up, you can give them a right telling off and mean it! I am at day 71 and I must admit, I am having a few "issues" right now - this morning I found a cigarette in my car - old, stale and stinky! Was I tempted to light it up? You bet I was. Did I? Nah. Wrapped the stinky thing up in toilet paper and flushed it right down where it belongs. The cravings do go away, although sometimes I will still be blindsided by one. I have defintely found the more you beat them, the easier it gets. Good luck. Stay strong. I sing the song, "Proud Mary Keep on Rollin'" because that is what you are gonna do! Just keep rollin' those minutes/hours/and days till you don't want to smoke anymore! And you will be so proud of yourself! Hi Mary, It does feel like a mountain at times, doesn't it? As I was reading that from you I started thinking, just like really hiking a mountain, you get to choose your path when quitting smoking. When you're hiking you probably wouldn't choose the path with the most obstacles and pitfalls and neither should you on this mountain. Choose the path with the most sunshine and the least amount of road blocks and you will have a much nicer hike. Keep it up, Mary. You are doing well! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 100 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,000 Amount Saved: $585.00 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 23 Mins: 44 Seconds: 36

Mary you can do this. Just remember to take a minuter or an hour or a day at a time. Try working the 12 steps with the quit, it does wonders, especially steps 1,2 and 3. Smoking is an addiction, just like alcohol and you are sober for today and you are smoke free today, celebrate!!!
