I'd better state that anyone here belongs to the non smoking gang, it's all inclusive and you don't have to be a non smoker either. Thinking about it is just as good as it is the start of the road ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 143 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,575 Amount Saved: 600.60 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 22 Mins: 29 Seconds: 3

Hi Bear my friend, Still 100 percent at the non smoking. For some reason, I am still a sucker for reachable targets and I am longing to reach 150 days smokefree. Plus I like being part of our non smoking gang! I will make a personal promise to you that I will not smoke a single thing this week and on my own skin be it (I haven't made any promises for a while). I am in a bad way (yet again) at the moment, but decided to shut up about it and try and dig myself out of a hole. I know discussions about mental states and smoking are not the order of the day. :) Instead I am trying to concentrate on the good things in life before the negativity crushes my brain like a paperweight. I DID eventually pluck up enough nerve to hold my little neice. Man I was scared poo-less. My sister said I had turned rigid and white :) But I tell you what, in my eyes she is really cute. Today I managed to put some photos up at you-know-where, so you can check her out for yourself. So my list of accomplishments for this year are : 1) Quit smoking 40 times 2) Made new friends 3) Went to a dentist and didn't cry 4) Went to the dentist and had an extraction and did not have a heart attack 5) Held a baby and didn't drop her. Maybe I will accomplish having a filling without being a prat by the end of the year too. As I am only posting at the weekend I will say congrats to all who make 1 day, 3 days 1 week etc. You are doing an exceptional job. HUGS from Kev So hows life in bear world? Those stats rock!! 257 days smokefree and doing it in style Bear. Kev old buddy I seem to be detecting some wavering in your resolve to remain smokeless. Tell me it is'nt so and that you will protect those 143 days I need some reassurance. :quest: My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 257 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,626 Amount Saved: $2,570.00 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 16 Mins: 9 Seconds: 20

Morning all, Jodi, great suggestion! Maybe the only way for me to relax though is to be knocked out before I get on the chair. They don't like doing that though as a few have died whilst being under sedation. My dentist certainly hasn't offered me that option yet. I guess you either handle it or get struck off the books? My parents try to make me a bit braver by telling me their experiences with 'Butcher' Bishop. This guy was an NHS dentist for Portsmouth way back in the day. Parents used to send their kids there when they had teeth problems and he would come out with a brown blood splattered tabbard shouting 'Next'. Years after, when my parents went to work and got married etc and went to a more modern dental practice, the dentist would exclaim 'Ahm you went to Butcher Bishop didn't you?', due to the rubbish work he had done on my parents teeth. Dental practices have moved on since the early days. Even so, I still want to smoke before during and after treatment :) Grandma, just been reading about electric toothbrushes in an independant report. It made for interesting reading. Extraction is cheaper than the crown. I had one pulled as it was too far gone and its mate on top was gone also. Looking towards another crown and thats like 1200 here$$ that is. Charged the sonicare today. been big on flossing too. Don't know which hurts more the novacaine or the bill. I don't have insurance. It was useless when I had it. Hey guys, may I make a suggestion regaurding the dental work? What I do is pick a little spot on the ceiling or somewhere to focus on. I also do the same type of deep breathing that you may have done during those first few days of cig craves. It really helps to relax you. Good luck!
