TextYo I agree with Goofy..... I never really participated in any discussions, but I did read plenty of posts when I first came here. Quitting this crap was the best thing I ever could have done, now I'm stronger, smarter, and sexier (I was just looking for another "s" word there) If any new quitter was to read my post I'd just say this......... quit the cigs & live your life in any best way possible..... Oh yeah and work out too!!!!...... Hi Terri, The people here, have so much insight as to what makes smokers tick. I really didn't give credit to the people who have been here for quite some time. Even though I got pretty close to the people that quit in October, like me, we all relied quite heavily on the advice of bear, unhooked, sue in NC, stickin, and of course we can't forget our favorite talking horse, now can we? These people are here, and I found that even if I don't post any comments or concerns, if I had a craving, I'd use my fingers to call up SSC instead of a cigarette. You make this quit stick, and you will have done something really special....for yourself. hey Terri, IMO if we save just one life then we have done our job. I pray we save them all. Mr Ed, that is sage advice you are giving as always sir :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 209 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,090 Amount Saved: $365.75 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 22 Mins: 0 Seconds: 48

Mr. Ed, as a newbie, I can assure you that I am reading and reading and READING!!! I am getting to "know" some of the regulars around here by poking around various threads and even though I only made it two days and had to start over, I can honestly say that this is really helping me. I especially enjoy reading some of the conversations between the Brits - I can actually hear their accent in their posts (love a British accent!) I did do the "pre" stuff, Unhooked, and I have to say I was way more excited about quitting before I actually had to experience a craving! LOL! I am grateful that this site is here, so even if there are fewer posts, know at least one life is being saved right now, and I'm glad it's mine. Also, don't forget the excellent program & workbook here to help you prepare & get excited about your quit. It seems to me that many new quitters skip that part. It works, it really does! Members, It is important to note that we are here for support in every which way. Some are shy and do not wish to post or talk amongst others. However, they are learning by reading and absorbing lots of knowledge. Don't be shy and come on in! We are ready when you are :) Josie, Support Specialist

In my humble opinion, I believe that the way to get the most out of the SSC is to do the following: Read as much as possible and learn from those who have been here before you Take advantage of ALL the help that is offered and most important of all: The SSC is a family of people of different quitting 'ages' You can learn a lot by talking to others who did not quit at the same time as you did! I try to offer help in my own way here, but I sometimes find it hard to understand why new quitters don't take up this offer.. I've also noticed that the number of active discussions here is very low at the moment. Perhaps some new ideas are needed. Anybody?
