Panic on Meds?

20 years ago 0 71 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Mel, Yikes! I know exactly how you felt! I tried five different kinds of anti-depressants before I discovered that they don't work for me. I use Clonazepam (a small dose) to control my anxiety. However, I've also heard tell from friends who take Paxil, that it can take up to 6 weeks before you start to feel better. Most of them expressed that their symptoms became much worse the first few weeks and then rapidly became better. Listen to your body. You will know the right thing to do. Keep in touch with your doctor as well - that's a must. :) Good luck and let us know how you're doing, Sarah :)

Hey Mel, Give it some time. It can take up to 6 weeks before you get the full effect of the meds. If you still feel the same after that, your doctor may just up the dose. I have been on Celexa for 1 week and a half, and still waiting for it to take full effect. Must be patient.

Hi everyone, I have started taking paxil about 2 weeks ago, It has made me feel quite a bit better so far however I still have lingering anxiety and really quick waves of panic...but not like before they come an go really fast. Last night however I woke up at 5am and felt like I was fighting a full blown attack. I was sweating and thought I am going to lose it any second. I fought it and fought it but it felt like I was fighting against myself. Part of me felt like, "okay, you know your having an attack just let it happen and get it over with" and part of me was like "No, I am not going to let this happen now, after I have been feeling so good". I spent about 5 minutes on the verge, trying to control my breathing and fighting the urge to get up and run. Then it finally passed without getting to a peak, though I still had some twitching and spaciness after before I fell asleep again. Has anyone had reoccouring attacks when they thought they were doing well on meds? I really want this drug to work and it has been but now I am thinking I might have to up my dose (I am currently on 10mgs) and I didn't want to do that because of more side effects. I already have some nausea and strange dreams and seem to bruise much easier? weird. But its worth it to feel somewhat normal again. Anyone have any advice on what I should do?
