NRT Danger, Poisoning!

Tryagain, are your stats correct? Are you two months away from your one-year anniversary? Have you been chewing the nicotine gum for ten months? I think that's great that you have stopped the gum and even more amazing that you haven't had a smoke in almost a year! Your body wants nothing to do with nicotine anymore. That's awesome! I remember a previous quit attempt when I was using the patch. I used a patch once after a few days of being without and completely nicotine-free. Shortly after I put on the patch I felt nauseaus and dizzy. It took me a while before I realized what the problem was. When I removed the patch I started to feel better. I probably wasn't as severely sick as you were, but I can relate to that feeling. It's amazing how horrible nicotine can make us feel when we have finally removed it from our bodies. It just confirms that we weren't meant to smoke. Good luck in the days ahead. Your mind may still be wanting the gum, but remember, your body doesn't. Tryagain! I'm so glad to see you giving up the poison for good now! Nicotine in any form is poison. As addicts we have to let go and move on. Not always easy but perfectly doable. I had gone totally off gum for six days then caved in. I couldn't deal with the urges without a little crutch. The crutch turned out to be not so little. I can't say exactly what it was, gum after a lay off, too much, used incorrectly and swallowing too much, too often something. I got sick. Really sick. Severe dizzyness, room spinning, lay down on the floor to keep from falling. Projectile vomiting. Depression. Lethargy. I mostly have to diagnose my own ailments because I can't afford a doctor so I thought it was an inner ear infection. Nothing I did made it go away. Sick, sick, sick and getting worse by the minute. I had to be all but carried to the doctor to find out what it was that looked like it was killing me. Ya ready? Did ya guess? Nicotine POISONING! From the gum. I guess I have to be nic free from now on.
