Thanks blue cloud!!! That is so awesome that you and your daughter walk together! I wish my mom would lead a healthier lifestyle, but my daughters and I are breaking that cycle! Take care! Hi Jodi, I love your Lab. soooo cute. I was one of those people who smoked instead of eating. Worry smoke, cry smoke, laugh smoke, you name it. I have always been small but in my older age I was needing the extra weight to look alive. I have gained a few pounds but not like I had hoped I would. I have a daugher who has used this program to secussfully quit and she helped me to start an exercise program from the beginning. we walk. I have been smoke free long enough to see great benefits in my breathing. I have found that stopping smoking leads to a healthy life style. I think you will too. Welcome back Tresa! What Goofy said goes for me too! Thanks for the inspiration and making all of us newbies feel welcome. I can loose weight, but I can't loose emphysema - it's going on my fridge! Wow Windy! What could be better for you than being addicted to exercise and living a healthy lifestyle?! That is so awesome, good for you! Hi Jodi I'm still sticking around ... and after a year, I can say that it IS possible to become addicted to exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Now that I don't smoke, I NEED to exercise to deal with the stressors that come my way (I even start to plan my days to see when I might be able to fit in a work out ... kinda like I used to plan in smokes) When I quit, the weight went on....but with some changes to diet and exercise, the weight came off....Plus...people notice how much healthier you look when you aren't deprived of oxygen... Keep up the good quit...it is sooooooooooo worth it! Tresa is the epitome of what we are all inspiring to be.. Tresa, your extended quit is without a doubt, what keeps us around. I never thanked you for all of the help you gave me this past month. I do owe most of this quit to one more try, sprquits, Jodi, and Jacqui as we were all quitting around the same time. However, you take the time to greet all the "newbies", and make us feel at home. So hat's off to you Tresa, keep us in line. Hey Jodi, 6 weeks already! Wow, is time going by faster without cigarettes? I still can't believe that most octobreathers have passed the 1 month mark already. This site really works! I've gotten two other people to check it out, and one of my friends has also decided to quit. She had two smokes this morning, and none since. I just showed her the SSC site, and she'll probably be joining in this weekend. Thanks for the reassurance! Yesterday an acquaintance of mine said I look different and asked if I changed my hairstyle. I said no, but I quit smoking 6 weeks ago and have gained 10 pounds. She said she works for a smoking cessation group through the hospital. She said that smoking a pack of cigs is worse for you than gaining 80 pounds, and then she gave me a hug!
