Junkie thinking

16 years ago 0 75 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Junkie thinking comes and goes. If I let it stay too long, then I'll loose to smoking or narcotics. I just have to realize they are just cravings or urges and they will pass and come with less frequency. all the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/17/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 187 Amount Saved: $44.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 2 Mins: 53 Seconds: 47

Wow! You have no idea how much I needed to read that post, Sparky! I printed it out (not that I actually needed to, since my brain has been saying all those same things to me for the past day and a half!). I guess it was the responses I really needed. Thank you! And I'm glad you got through your stressful weekend smoke-free. It's good to be back on this forum. I had quit for over a month and then went in for surgery and couldn't take chantix and smoked for a few days when I got out. Now I'm back on the quit road for 9 days and glad about it. Junkie thinking has plauged me all my life for drugs and smoking. Now I realize I don't have to cave in to short cravings and they pass and I'm glad I didn't give in. When I have smoked after a period, I've never felt the tabacco "fix" was worth it. all the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 55 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 935 Amount Saved: $220.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 3 Mins: 39 Seconds: 24

Way to kick ash, Deb. Smoking would not have changed one thing in your situation, except maybe for the worse. There is nothing wrong with having a good cry. You just keep doing what you're doing, that's how you'll get it done. I hope everything goes well with your biopsy, & remember come here whenever you feel like it. Good for you, Sparky. And thanks for posting the Junkie Thinking. I had a bout with it this weekend myself (seems to be going around). It's interesting how many people have been affected. I found out Tuesday that there's something wrong in my throat and my tonsils have to come out and be biopsied. I honestly was handling the info okay (I thought). I've also been working a lot, and my family has been getting on my last available nerve. Anyway, I had a meltdown yesterday. Something dumb happened, and I came into my bedroom and sobbed.... for quite awhile. I felt so angry with everybody and everything. While I was crying, a friend called and I told her that I was too upset to even talk at that moment, and she offered to bring me a cigerette........ I actually couldn't believe the strength with which I said, No! I'm not sure where that came from (it certainly doesn't sound like me :) Old me would've jumped at that. Anyway, doing a little better today. Still smoke free, still worried, still a little pissy. I'm so glad you are all here. I don't know what I would do without you. Thanks guys and girls. Today is somewhat better. Daughter and her two sons left this morning. Now things are quite. I do miss them, but my daughter is a big stressor for me. I just didn't get myself in the right frame of mind before she came. I love her to death, but some of you will understand when I say thirty somethings have all the answers and us 60 somethings are not with it. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr LOL. What goes around comes around. I did the same thing to my mother, God bless her soul. Anyway I did not smoke and all is good. ((((HUGS)))) Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 209 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,090 Amount Saved: $313.50 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 3 Mins: 29 Seconds: 19
