Way to go Terri. Smart decision you won't regret it. If Faye agrees there nothing like a quit buddy to get the both of you thru the initial stages. This is the best forum in the world.I've said it before and I'll say it again if a 68 year old truck driver with 50 years of smoking behind him can do it so can everybody. All the best. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 246 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,428 Amount Saved: $2,460.00 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 5 Mins: 59 Seconds: 26

Well, I'm not sure I'm qualified to comment about this, since I haven't quit yet. But I had originally picked a date a couple of weeks away and when I started reading more and more posts I have to admit that I got kind of excited by the idea of quitting. So I moved it up to this coming Sunday (3 days away!!!). I'm a little nervous about it, too. But the way I look at it, if I've made the decision to do it, why put it off? I'm actually looking forward to a smoke-free Christmas and New Year's. Maybe we can do this together. Gee! I feel like such a loser; putting off my quit date until after the holidays. Maybe everyone is right and I shouldn't procrastinate. I guess I will pick a date within the three week recommended time. Thanks guys. I need a push! Everyone has such a positive outlook and I think I will be here often. Hi there! I like your title here. Not Quite Ready! I don't think any of us are really ready when we quit. I put off quitting for most of the years I smoked. Smoking is an addiction and we are addicts. Quitting isn't easy but until you do it, it is always hanging over your head. Make a list of your reasons for wanting to quit and really look over them. Also, work the program to the left. Stick around. Read and post a lot. There was a lady around not long after I quit who hung out here for about 60 days before her quit. She learned, armed herself with knowledge, set her date, picked up some tools, used this group and quit. She is now over 2 years quit! It is doable! Don't give up and hang around until you are ready! Hi Faye Hello and welcome to the site! I'm Mister Ed and just another Quitter like you. And like you I thought 'Can I really do this?' Well, the answer is a resounding YES and it's the best thing that I've ever done. This site has helped so many of us stay quit. There are all different kinds of people here: people who have thousands of posts to their names, the people who seem to just want to help others, some who just want to observe and maybe learn from what they read and those who just like shouting 'HELP!' from time to time. Use this site as you want, access the Quit Program Tools on the left of the screen, talk one to one with others using Internet Messenger and the Moderators are always there to help as well. In addition, I produce a daily list of those quitters who are celebrating, say 1 week, 1 month, 50 days 1 year and so on. If you want to be part of this, simply send a post to the Daily Quitters thread.. There is also a group outside the SSC for SSC members. Click here for more information. A number of us set this up as a way of thanking the SSC for their good work. It is primarily a way of advertising the site to the outside world, but also a load of fun, if you want to join. We're not allowed to put email addresses in posts, but check it out! Welcome again and I'm sure you will enjoy a winning quit!! You've made a wise decision to quit and you must have the luck of the Irish because you've found the best sight for succeeding in quitting. If you're serious, determined and ready you can be a little cowardly and still do very well. You obviously recognized this won't be easy and this too will work in your favor. Welcome. I hear ya Faye, I was apprehensive too. It won't get easier until you quit. Really. When you want to quit more than you want to smoke, you will. We are here when you ready! Faye - Welcome! Remember that saying, don't put off for tomorrow ...blah, blah, blah? Just keep checking in and reading posts - they really help. I was a lurker forever before I quit with Chantix.
