cydeb I can tell you that this site is a major contributor to the success I have had to date. So glad you stumbled upon us here...Stay close by there are many people here who will invest in your quit, as they have in mine...If you read all you can about the addiction and become involved in the discussions, you will find this to be a most instuructive site indeed...It also serves as a pleasant distractor, and as you will find, distraction is a major component of quitting. Deb, Glad to hear you are doing well!! On another note, my employer is adding a surcharge to every employee who is buying health care plan thru work and is a smoker. For every smoker its another $50 a month!! If my employer is doing this then others already have and even more are to follow. Noone is going to take any more $$ from me because of this addiction. Keep up the great effort, you quiters are an inspiration and will make this Saturday easier knowing I will not be alone! Welcome! Glad to see you on day 3!!! It gets easier, don't forget that! I used a similar aid as the popsicle stick. I used a straw that was cut to about the same length as a cig. This helped me when I was driving, which was my hardest time. Keep going it one minute, one hour, one day, one week, one month at a time! What a warm welcome! Thanks! It's the start of day 3, and I'm taking everyone's advice. I will be taking things extra slow in the next few days. I already arranged some time off from work, and plan on reading novels and sipping a lot of water. Oddly, chewing on popsicle sticks seems to help. Any port in a storm, I say. And thank you Rocket for reminding me of that extra incentive to quit. Phooey on Big Tobacco! No more money for youuuuu. So sorry! :p I'll add you all to my buddy list even though I don't know how it works-- sounds good though. Have a beautiful, smoke-free day everyone! I'm off to find my popsicle stick. Keep going Deb, I'm right behind you!!! It is only going to get easier. Do not let the cravings win, just think of the # of hours and $$'s spent by these companies to make these products more addictive, we can't let them win, they don't deserve to and we are better than that!
