Hi Kev, I am pleased to hear that Gracie is starting to improve. So are you going to share in the nappy changing?! I think we ought to have your Day 120 celebrations now! Congratulations on reaching this auspicious milestone! :) :) :) So I suppose you are wondering what is going to happen now. Well, day 123 is probably not going to be much different to day 119 or day 121. Whereas months 3 and 4 can be described as 'The Rollercoaster' or 'No-mans Land', month 5 sees increasing confidence and self-belief. In fact, everything from now on sees improvement. Your brain chemistry is starting to even out the levels of dopamine, beta-endorphin etc. So day 150 feels significantly better than day 120. You will still have the odd bad day - but the lows will not be as low, and they will go sooner. I have read that a person who quits on Day 1 has a 5% chance of making it to one year. From my own observations, if you make it to Month 4, then the odds are around 75% and Month 5 then around 90%. Are you going to go for 90%? Lizzie :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/23/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1664 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 24,960 Amount Saved: 6,240.00 Life Gained: Days: 166 Hrs: 10 Mins: 31 Seconds: 13

Good morning All, I managed to sleep a bit over the weekend and did see my sister and heard that Gracie is doing better and fighting hard. She is now breathing on her own so that is a couple less tubes in her. My sister also got to change her first nappy, which she was really happy about. That novelty will wear off really fast. :) Of course it means I missed my own 120 day celebrations! I guess it doesn't mean I can't celebrate now. As tradition permits. Time for a lengthy kev musing :) My thoughts at 120 days ======================== Every day in my quit has been a learning process. Some days I learn more than others. One of my most mined places for learning new stuff is ... here. Since my last milestone, things have not been easy but I have learnt the most because of that. I am still confused as ever and this means that I am still in 'No Man's Land'. Like a confused snake who is halfway through shedding his skin but has thoughts he may prefer the old one. :) Instead of avoiding life and hoping for a quick and painless death just so I don't smoke (yes I really do count the ridges on an artexed ceiling just to keep my mind off smoking or actually smoking) I have decided instead to enjoy and make the most of life whilst I still have it. It is the JFDI attitude that I have been given a glimpse of. That is..if I don't think about it too much! Deep thought is often the downfall of me. If I thought for too long I would never leave the house and instead i'd live underneath a doorframe just in case there was an earthquake! :) Confusion and perceived dumbness is something I have been noticing since I quit. I don't seem to have been able to function right and suffer from lack of concentration plus I am now constantly confused if I have to think about anything. I actually do start off my conversations with 'I apologise, I am really dumb today, please explain like you are talking to a monkey and work upwards. I hope to improve sometime'. Thats not to say I don't have hours of clarity...I do...they just don't happen that often. I'm apologising a lot these days. It's not a problem. It is a way to set expectations. I am however, very proud that I am/have tried quitting. That is the one thing I know for sure and the only bit of advice I have given that I knowingly adhere to. I even get to feel good about being smokefree sometimes! Whats the way forward? To continue to take it one minute/hour/day at a time. To stick close to here. To deep breathe when needed. Hope you liked the review. Back to work for me now (both quitting and otherwise). p.s. Although I haven't been unaccompanied and therefore not tried JDFI yet due to current circumstances. I have seen some very sexy nurses. :) As I normally do with my quit in review. I would like to continue to thank everyone. Apologies if this post is dumb, start from the monkey and work up :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 123 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,075 Amount Saved: 516.60 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 10 Mins: 12 Seconds: 8

Thanks for the best wishes. You are all great. I passed them on last night when I was at the hospital. Now she has her own DVD player and is probably going to watch the DVD's I brought in last night. Grace is hanging in there. She was put in a coma like state to calm her down and it also means she doesn't need feeding. And they're also changing the breathing routine (she was being pumped up and down like a balloon) to short, sharp, breathes in order to try and clear the GBS from her tiny lungs. Well, just wanted to keep my best friends/extended family (thats you lot) updated. I have a very busy work day ahead of me so I will not be around much and of course I might be running entirely on adrenaline now (total lack of sleep) but will keep you in touch as to how it goes. Kev, How great that you can be there for your sister and the rest of the family as much as needed without running outside and smoking. {{{hugs}}} -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 231 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,240 Amount Saved: $1,570.80 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 6 Mins: 34 Seconds: 42

"...I have not smoked a single cigarette during this and I don't plan to either." Me too, way to go Kev. Grace is a beautiful name and she will do well, give your sister my best, there will be time for bonding, babies only seem fragile, they are tough, keep us posted. Have a great day :) Hugs Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1918 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 38,360 Amount Saved: $6,713.00 Life Gained: Days: 270 Hrs: 11 Mins: 14 Seconds: 27
