Martha, I think you are right, if we come together, we may realize that we aren't alone in this fight. I feel sooo alone.......no one else in my office has ever smoked, so they don't understand, my hubby is still smoking, although he doesn't smoke in our house, we haven't done that since my last quit attempt, and he doesn't announce when he is going out to smoke....but I always always know and it makes me so mad/upset/hurt that he gets to go and I don't. Such a struggle that would be so easy to give into at times!!!! Hi All! I am 41 years old, live in Missouri, happily married and the mother of a 16 year old. I work full time in the insurance business and also spend a lot of time caring for my grandmother. I quit smoking on October 22nd, 10pm, last smoke. I've smoked for over 22 years, this is my second attempt at quitting, the first time I tried Zyban, managed to quit for a week, but the insomnia was too much for me, I did however cut back from being a 3 pack a day smoker before that try to a 1 pack a day afterwards.........that was 6 years ago. I hope that this is my last attempt at quitting and that I am able to quit for good. I had been taking Chantix this quit, but had problems with side effects so am now going cold turkey (since last Friday).......today has been the hardest hardest day I have experienced so far!!!! Hi October Quitters! My name is Jodi. I am a 42 year old mother of three girls. We live in Oregon. I am a stay at home mom, and I do the books for my husbands construction company. I am very involved with my kids sports, music and activities. I do a lot of volunteer work. I enjoy traveling, skiing, swimming and spending time with my family and friends. I finally quit smoking on Monday, October 15th! I smoked about a pack a day for about 25 years. I have tried to quit before, but was unsuccessful. This time I'm on Chantix and I've quit for good! I read all of the "quitting is easier than..." posts this morning and cried. My step dad died from lung cancer last year and my mom has liver cirrhosis. I want to lead a healthy life and set a good example for my kids. My husbands quit day is today! I have been feeling great about my quit, although I'm still wanting to eat and sleep a lot. Oh well, it will pass and it's worth it. I just ordered another months supply of Chantix. I don't even want to think about weaning off that yet! This sight has been very helpful to me. The people are so nice and supportive. I come here often! Fellow October quitters - HANG TOUGH WITH ME! thanks for the nice welcome, Martha! I'm a grad student in Montreal, Canada. All I need is to find myself again as a non-smoker and on my own. This year has been a year of great change for me. I'm going through a divorce, but I'm happier now that I'm out of that relationship. Although such a change made me go back to my old self when I was 17 and started smoking as much as I did back then. I am also now in a long distance relationship with someone who makes me the happiest person alive. The only thing is that we are now both trying to quit. I am now finding my true self on my own. I know I can do this and I know I can be both happy and smokeless :D. I can't wait to make it to two years like you have and welcome and support the new quitters as you are right now. It must be a great feeling :) thanks again! Alright, so I didn't quit in October BUT... I've seen a lot of newer quitters that have anywhere from 3-30 days clawing their way through this first stretch. It can be hard - it isn't always but it can be difficult. There is strength in numbers! SO, band together quitters of October! You have decided that this was your last summer spent as a smoker and now you are moving into autumn and your new life. You've made a great decision and now you guys can share your experiences and your successes together. Don't be shy... Where are you? Who are you? What do you need? All the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1183 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,660 Amount Saved: $5,323.50 Life Gained: Days: 90 Hrs: 7 Mins: 46 Seconds: 19
