Lamplighter said it all typed just as I saw Mercy's post. That is a very painful situation believe me I know after 20 something years to hear it. There is counseling and if wife won't go they can help you make a plan. Stay close here and to your friends, hey my son was a dj on radio but automation cut that down. judy My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 91 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 728 Amount Saved: $182.00 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 9 Mins: 18 Seconds: 47

Jon, when I made the decision to quit smoking, I told myself, "No matter what"... but I also knew that there were a few things that could happen to test my resolve... to the maximum degree. I'm not married or attached, so for me those challenges would be things like... being told I have some horrible form of cancer that would end my life in three months, or the death of one of my children in an accident... or my return to active drug-addiction. And I know that at this stage of my quit, if any one of those things were to happen... I can't say for certain what I'd do. I hope that down the road somewhere I'm so strong, so entrenched in being smoke-free that nothing could seriously challenge my quit... but today? Today I know that routine troubles, upsets... boredom, anxieties, etc... don't jeopardize my quit. But the extraordinary? I don't know. I can only hope that, should it come to that, that I still care enough, that I still see enough meaning and benefit in remaining smoke-free... that I would come back here and seek support, that I would do everything possible to keep what I've fought so hard to achieve. Jon, you're walking through the fire. I know the kind of pain you're experiencing.... I think a number of us do, and I'm not going to insult you by telling you that it's just about making right choices. A lot of it is about hanging on to enough purpose and meaning... to even care whether the choice is right. All I can tell you for sure is that you're worth it. You do deserve your best efforts to save your own life. Regardless of the outcome of your relationship difficulties, you will come to a place where you'll be so glad that you found it in you to care about your health and your future. But first you have to be convinced of that. And will you be? I don't know... and no amount of water or carrot-sticks or hard candies will help you discover the reality of... just how much your life matters. But it does. I hope you can see that. Oh gosh. I am so sorry. I blew a quit years ago when my ex husband did somewhat of the same thing to me. I know it is easy to do. But...please stay strong, you will feel better about staying quit in the long run. Jon, first I am sorry for your pain and your situation - I hope both resolve themselves quickly. Smoking will change nothing Jon. Don't blow this quit, you deserve to be healthy. Stay close, read read read here, others will be along also. We are holding on tight, don't let go. Jon, You came to the right place for encouragement. This is an awful situation for you. I know there are many others that have faced similar situations, including myself. Smoking WILL NOT improve this terrible situation. It will only make you feel worse. Lean on your friends during this difficult time. Come here to chat. Talk to your real life friends. If necessary, go back to the coping mechanisms that helped you get this far in your quit (water, gum......whatever it takes). Jon, you have given yourself a gift by quitting. Don't give in to the temptation. It's NOT worth it. You've worked too hard to get this far. You deserve a healthy life. 7 days ago my wife told me to pack my bags and leave. She "needed time to think" Today i emailed her quickly to let her know i was stopping by the house while she was at work to grab a few more things. She called me halfway there to tell me she changed the locks. I was in shock. I had never been abusive or destructive to her in any way. This is the darkest time in ym life right now...im using my sadness as an excuse to want to smoke but fighting it. I need some encouragment guys.
