Hello and welcome to all the latest members of this great site! If you haven't found out already, there are alot of people here...myself included...that are ready to offer a helping hand, advice, a shoulder to cry on, or just somewhere to vent your frustrations. Although I'm still fairly new myself compared to some of the quitters here, I'm on my way. I wanted to let you guys know that you CAN do this! I was a heavy smoker. Anywhere from 60 to 100 smokes a day. I averaged 80 cigarettes, or 4 packs per day. 45 days ago I put them down and haven't looked back. If I can do it, you can do it. Many of the ideas I have heard given to you here also worked for me. Drinking cold water, hard candies, going for a walk, ect. Try one of these when you crave a smoke. And remember to reward yourself for NOT smoking! Its very important. The main thing that helped me with my quit was to realize that the bigger and harder I made it in my own mind, the more difficult it was going to be for me to do. I smoked for over 30 years. Was it difficult to stop? Of course it was. But anything worth doing is often difficult. Just don't turn it into a mountain that can't be conquered, because It CAN. So DON'T freak yourself out!! The first day is always rough, but I can tell you...it DOES GET BETTER! The way you look at this quit, may make the difference in your success. Your not "giving up" smoking. Your gaining far more than can be listed here, simply by choosing not to smoke! And it only takes a few days to start getting some of those benefits. What a great gift your giving to yourself and your family! You should be proud of yourselves and ready to kick the nicodemons BUTT! WAY TO GO!! Have a great Halloween!!
