Lainey you hit it right on the button. For a long long time I seldom posted at all because I was tired of saying "I want to smoke" and I was sure everyone else was just as tired of hearing it. I only started posting regularly again when I quit the gum. I thought I could get through it with some help like I did when I quit smoking. It's not working this time. Yes, I agree that telling myself the positive reinforcements is a good thing to do. I do it all the time. Not when I feel that it's important to be honest, but all other times. I need to regroup. I don't blame you all for being tired of me and my endless whineing, I'm tired of it too. Tryagain! When I read your posts, all I see is "I want to smoke, I want to smoke,I want to smoke." You know the saying "Be careful what you wish for." Your whole focus is on wanting to go back to smoking. No wonder you can't get past it. You want what we have? Then you're going to have to change your thinking. I wanted to smoke too, but I fought those thoughts in my head, because I knew if I didn't...I would be doing what I was thinking. OK, you can't smoke. you know that, you won't smoke, you said that, so start changing the way you think. You know that if you think you cannot do something thats exactly what will happen. you have to give yourself something new to think about. If you want to have what we have, you have to do what we did! "I am a healthy non smoker!" "I am happy to be free from nicotine." "I am so glad that I have stopped smoking forever." "I can breathe freely and clearly now." Start telling yourself how wonderful it is that you quit, instead of telling yourself how much you miss. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 243 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,075 Amount Saved: $2,563.65 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 16 Mins: 40 Seconds: 28

i tried hypnotherapy last time I stopped. It really helped get the cigarettes out of my brain and taught me to centre. O.K., I started again last time- but that's a differet story. I think that when you suffer too much, that' s when you realize that cigarettes were covering up other difficulties- and they resurface once you remove the nicotine cruch. It' s not just quitting tobacco, anoyingly enough. It goes deeper- at least for me. Hey, I'm not going to smoke! I don't really feel that I want to start coughing like that. I have not slipped. I want the craving to go away. That's what I'm so angry about, I think I have done quite enough to be through it, at least the very least through the worst of it and on the upside. Especially, especially since I quit the gum almost a week ago. I realize that the last time I quit smoking, I went through three years of not feeling good in one way or another, before I started smoking again, but I didn't have that cough then either. You all talk about that moment when you realize that you haven't thought of smoking for an hour or more, and that period of time gets longer and longer. That's not happening for me at all. It is a boulder that I carry 24 hours a day with no days off and no breaks. When I sleep I only dream of smoking dreams so even a break during sleep is denied to me. I only want what you all have, or KNOW you are getting. Sorry peeps but i aint got enough time to read all the replies to this posts. You know that it's the tobacco companies that have done this to you amirite... you also know that Governments have been taking our hard earned $ from cigarettes while allowing tobacco companies to raise the nicotine level in cigarettes in more recent years due to their half arsed 'anti-smoking' price hikes & what with NRT & the pharmaceutical companies jumping on the bandwagon. I'm angry too tryagain & you better believe it ! - i'm so frigging angry, but you know what ?.. there is no way in hell i'm going to allow this to any effect whatsoever on my current life. I've already wasted enough time addicted to this crap so Tryagain my advise to you is to concentrate on yourself & start doing stuff that makes YOU happy & life all that more enjoyable. You can still Get angry & even better get even.. Take it out on the tobacco giants & never smoke again. Give them all the finger by not ingesting that life sucking, brain numbing, neurotoxin 'nicotine' crap ever again & help as many noobs as you can in the process. Tryagain, First let me explain something to you. I have not been active here in a while because I am dealing with some emotional weaknesses myself, and getting professional help for it. Please remember that the people here are not qualified to give you all of the support you need. I too was asking of them more than they were qualified to offer. They dont want to send you down the wrong path, thus the seemingly constant recommendation to see a doctor. I have been neck and neck with you on this journey and I felt obliged to point out to you that you once had, and can once again have a positive attitude. It is not irreversible. So many loving souls have reached out a hand to you to help pull you out of this misery but many times to no avail. A little better attitude may have had you taking some of them up on their advice. You are suffering Try. Suffering is painful but it can allow us to grow depending on how we approach it. Will you use this suffering as a stumbling block or a stepping stone? It is your choice.
