Thanks guys. Change of season, another mile stone, and just plain being me ;p. There are to many things to look forward to and smoking is not included. Anna we will have a kitten naming "contest" after thanksgiving, okay. I keep thinking of names, but I am going to have to wait until it is actually here and see what kind of personality it has. Kita, I love the smell of burning leaves, but we can't do it here, darn it!! Again thanks!!! Spark, I think you are on the right track by replacing smoking thoughts with other nice thoughts. Eventually your brain will get it! I believe that you are a strong quitter and you are going to be fine. Now what are you going to name the new kitten. There is a thought for you! Spark, As fall has arrived it is yet another new season to go through without smoking. While working outside raking the leaves the thoughts of sitting down and having a smoke have been strong and hard. I have been burning all my fall candles from Yankee Candle and just repeating over and over that I am not a smoker anymore. One more season that is winter and then I will let you know if it ends. Good to hear from you Sparky! The quicker you get the smoking thought to exit, the faster it will exit the next time and then faster the next time. Make it your pattern to NOT think about smoking. You done good Sparky and I am very proud of you! It is coming to you, its coming. Hey you got 6 months! I know some who would kill for six months! Sparky, Soon you'll be thinking, "My kitchen is SO beautiful" and "Awww look how cute my kitty is" and there won't be room for thoughts of smoking! Sounds like you've got a good strategy down in the meantime. They do stop eventually and the ball and chain will be left so far behind you, you won't even recognize it! One day at a time Sparky. That day the thoughts stop is different for each of us. You keep taking one day at a time and one step at a time always remembering NOPE. You are doing great. The thoughts will drive you insane if you let them. Let it go, laugh it off and move on. You are a quitter now! I try to think of them realistically too. I imagine that my cough is back and I"m gasping for breath. I try to imagine that I'm sitting in a garden smelling flowers instead of smoke. Then, Holly Golightly walks across my garden, with her long black cigarette holder, and instead of flowers, there is the fantastic jewlery of Tiffanys. None of which has any remote connection to smoking. Hey, Sparky! I have those thoughts once in awhile, not very often anymore. What I do is think them but realisticlly, not romantically. For example, I might think I'd like a smoke after a nice dinner. I let myself imagine actually smoking one, I imagine the disgusting taste & smell, the instant headache & nausea I would have from inhaling deadly poisons. I imagine an ashtray once again sitting on the table & how ugly it would look there after all this time. I think of the gross, ugly cloud of smoke that would surround me as I smoked. Then I think of how I would feel, how disappointed I would be in myself, how I would have to come here, tell you guys & reset me meter. By the time I get to the cloud of smoke, I'm usually pretty close to vomiting & I don't think it's such a good idea anymore. You're doing great, Sparky, & you have your new kitchen & a little furry reward to look forward to, as well. Keep it up, buddy!
