Doodles, You may want to slap me for saying this, but here goes anyway. What great opportunities to break those associations with smoking. Most of them have to do with stress, so what else can you do to reduce the stress? Get some exercise? Take a walk? Watch a funny movie or TV show? Read a joke book? Meditate? Pray? Do some yoga? Ride a bike? Get a massage? Trade massages? Point being, if you begin to associate stress with doing something else, one of these days every time you are feeling stressed about something you will think, "Oh! Time to take a walk/trade massages/meditate" or whatever works for you. Instead of, "Oh, I'm stressed, I wish I could smoke." In that thread about smoking associations, This is Why You Think About Smoking, I think I estimated I had at least 10,000 after meal smokes, so it is no big surprise that I would associate finishing a meal with smoking. Funny, though, once I figured that out, it hasn't been much of a trigger any more. I think because it seemed so bizarre. Hello Stickin, WOW... I want to be where you are. Today is one of those days... The craves are driving me crazy.. The triggers: money problems health issues work stress family stress after eating ps most days are better than this!! I KNOW that a cig will not change anything, except my status as a nonsmoker.. Craves come out of weird places, it could be a restuarant that I would normally smoke at, or an event that I would normally smoke at. So the craves do come out of no-where. I have had to stop drinking alcohol, I just know that it's too much of a temptation for me to drink and quit at the same time. Recognizing these things takes the edge off the craves slightly. Hi stickin, I have different degrees of realization. One day, I am so calm in the knowledge that I do NOT need to smoke; other days,I am in a panic with cravings. But, when i think about it, who would need a dried up weed rolled in paper to survive? (an addict can delude himself into thinking he needs it). It seems kind of silly then. And, I can't wait to get to that beautiful place that you describe..where the desire to smoke is lost. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,744 Amount Saved: $780.00 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 12 Mins: 58 Seconds: 18

When you have realized that you can live without smoking, you will lose the desire to smoke. And when you stop thinking about the smoking, this realization comes forth. Work diligently on breaking the smoking associations you have acquired over your smoking career. It is very possible to do; you got to want though. I think about how wonderful to have lost the desire to smoke. That is our goal and why we are here. You dont need that smoke, ever again. Are you started to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel? If not just yet, you will, you will! Wishing you all success and yes you can do this.
