How not to feel hopeless about future?

Kate, I have to agree with Michael. I was diagnosed with panic/anxiety about 12 years ago. With the proper diet, exercise, and therapies I have gone for long periods of time (up to two years) with no attacks. When they do come I get discouraged, as you are, but I repeat to myself that "they always go away". I just do what I need to do for myself and repeat this like a mantra. Good luck! Checking in with this board helps alot too when you are feeling down. Rachele

Hi Kate, Welcome to the site. This is a great place to share your feelings and expereinces of panic and anxiety. Other members will be responding to your post soon. I have seen numerous messages recently with members voicing very similar concerns to yours with respect to being back at school. Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physicians advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When youre finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. If you have any questions or concerns with our "TOOLS" you can contact our support department at support@paniccenter.net. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Be sure to post often and let us know how everything is going. Casey _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Kate, dont lose hope!!!! This illness is very treatable and there are many variations, etc....I have had this for close to 15 years(im no 43) and with small dosage of meds, right diet, excercise, etc....Ive gone into complete remission for years at a time....when something stressful in my personal life happens it seems to trigger the illness again and thats probably the hardest part....I know you will get better....you will be amazed, I certainly was the first time I got better....hopefully yours will be PERMSANENT

Dear Friends, I am a 24 year old college student. I have had panic and anxiety off and on for about 5 years now. Lately I have had a crippling bout on panic and anxiety - new apartment and new semester. Especially bad is the feeling of "is this what the rest of my life is going to be like and if so, what's the point?" Any thoughts? HELP, Kate
