Hi Lori! I am also a 42 year old newbie on Chantix. I have been smoking for about 25 years, and I'm on my 8th day of being smoke free! If I can do it, so can you! The first two days were the hardest for me, but it gets a lot easier. Keep your eye on the prize! Welcome to our group! Glad you have joined us. As Lori of 23 days said, it does get easier but the support of people here will keep you strong. The Chantix helped me too but I am now off of it and glad to be doing this "on my own" so to speak. Some people choose to use it longer - some less. Some taper off, some don't. Don't be afraid to listen to your own body when that time comes. For now, today, it's really simple - N.O.P.E. You can do it! Lori -- Greetings from another 42-yr-old Lori who is also using chantix as a tool for quitting. Those first few days are really tough, there's no getting around that. But you can do it and as others have said, it really does get better.
