Finalize an End

I appreciate the insight into the emotional threads of this relationship's fabric. This is largely a blind spot for me and I often will look elswhere for a view of what may be within me. I never viewed smoking as an emotional relationship. I don't believe it started that way, but evolved into it. I broke the physical addiction then changed my habbits. The members of the SSC did the rest to solidify this effort and help me achieve this lifetime goal through their insights. I will never smoke again!!! I'm done with that!!! Next... Good Post Stickin! The means to an end in my book, is the day that it dawns on you, that you can have NOT ONE PUFF EVER! Perhaps another way of saying it; the day you stop romanticizing that someday you can smoke again. It may come sooner than later to some. "We are addicts", we cannot have another drag unless we want to be right back from whence we came! Once we get that fact through our brains, we are free! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 228 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,700 Amount Saved: $2,405.40 Life Gained: Days: 27 Hrs: 21 Mins: 14 Seconds: 22

Perfect question, as usual Stickin! My reasons - health, tired of being ostracized, not adding to lip lines that disgust me. I look at the end as a divorce. When I divorced my husband he had turned abusive and contributed nothing to my daughter or my life. I grieved the man I married, not the man I divorced. I think that is why this is so easy now (and I truly mean easy) - I grieved what I THOUGHT smokes gave me, but not what I know they are now that the rose colored glasses are off. Thanks - I needed this reminder. You are the guru Stickin and I but a mere student! I think that the "end" is a goal that we very gradually grow into. I know that I will know it when I arrive! Love freebird's reply....zero uges....WOW! I can only keep putting one foot in front of the other until I arrive. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 145 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,480 Amount Saved: $725.00 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 0 Mins: 38 Seconds: 43

Good question stickin. Various reasons for quitting and used for motivation in the early part of the quit. Now, I can't even imagine myself smoking. Zero urges and craves. You title says it all. Finalize an End At first - I hated the process of quitting 2nd - Learned to deal with the process Now - Learned to love the quit, the freedom and the personal accomplishment that goes with it. I would much rather be thinking about anything other than smoking. I am still trying to figure out why I do think about it so many times through the day. Thank goodness it is only thoughts and the real pit of the stomach thing is gone. I seem to be thinking about it more now than I was a week ago. Maybe it is the number of days. Who knows? I am keeping a list of reasons I don't want to smoke and Health is right on top. I am feeling better physically, now to get on top of the mental part!! I think that a person mends quickly once they finalize an end to the relationship. By this I mean that they no longer see smoking as a means to satisfy an end. Dont be afraid to let go. If you dont want to be sitting on the fence forever, you must let it go. How about, there is no way I am going to smoke or smoking is not an answer. I would rather be thinking about something other than smoking. How do I do that? And your reasons for quitting are?
