I know that you do not want that. Distract yourself with a good book, some speed walking, a trip to the library or movie theater, suck on hard candy...just hang on. Good work Andy!!! Thousands of cigarettes not smoked and hundreds of dollars not spent!! Have you rewarded yourself for not smoking with all that money saved? You've made it through the really hard part and arrived at the maintenance part. You already have a respectable quit and you must admit it's easier to maintain than it once was. That ease will get better. The decision to smnoke is yours just as the decision to quit was. You may not have done it for yourself but no one but you could have done it. Another thought..... There is a Forum on this site called 'Avoiding Relapse and Slipping'. In that Forum is a post by Joe Cool. I recommend you read it. It's a long post, and you need to start at the beginning. In the Heading Menu area of a post is a clickable link called 'Message Date' that lets you toggle between earliest/latest date order...this can take you directly to the beginning or the end of a post. Andy, What you are experiencing is normal, but I guess maybe you were not expecting it. You will continue to experience cravings for a few weeks yet, but the frequency and intensity reduce further until it is only occassionally. I bet you have good days where you hardly notice it, and bad days when it nags you more. You know that 7 weeks is a fantastic achivement. You have done most of the hard work. Your body is totally nicotene free and is starting to recover. Do you really want to go back to Day 1 again? If you just wait for a couple of minutes, the craving will pass. It would be worthwhile spending some time at this site, and maybe signing up for the programme. Much of this battle is mental, not physical, and that's where the support and knowledge here can help. Andy, What kind of thoughts are you having? Where are they happening? When are they happening? What are you doing to counteract them? Ok, Buddy, take a deep breath!! AHHHHHHHHHHH! Does that not feel good? You have enough quit time under your belt to have noticed quite a few benefits of quitting.Both physical and mental. Yes, you have come so far and it really would be a shame to go back. Keep reminding yourself of those benefits. If you need more, look over this site, they are plastered all over these pages. Next, it is great that you quit to help a friend but, Andy you deserve to quit for ANDY! You need to be your inspiration. Sure your friends and family are proud of you, but give yourself a pat on the back and be proud of how far you have come. Finally, think of how hard your first days of quitting were. Do you really want to do that again? That has been a huge motivator for me! Hi Andy. I'm just past the seven week mark myself and seem to have some increased thoughts of smoking, too. I'm not sure what it is but there are some threads here where other members speak of similar feeling and difficulties. "No Mans Land" & "The Nag" are both good ones. If you do a search of a particular keyword you will find others as well. Other than that all I can say is stay strong. The feelings will pass and you will be better for it. Maybe try to remind yourself of all the benefits of quitting and some other reasons you may have quit in the first place (health, cost savings, social reasons, etc.). If you started smoking again I bet all you would be able to think of is how you wish you hadn't and how you want to be quit again. Hi I just joined the site. I quit cold turkey 7 weeks ago. The thoughts of smoking don't seem to stop. I'm ready to start smoking agian, I don't know what else to do. I quit to help a fiend at work. Witch now seems stupid but I've came this far and I don't want to go back. Can anyone help me???
