You must be aware that you smoke before you can quit!

I too see it here at my work Stickin. I wish they could all see what i can and i wish they could just have that little bit of courage to quit and know that you CAN do it step by step, one day at a time. Smoking is a choice... Yea, I am so glad that I choose not to. My husband is still smoking and all he does is smoke & cough.. I feel sorry for him, but I can not quit for him. You're so right, stickin. You really do have to come to realize and accept that smoking is responsible for that cough, the wheezing, shortness of breath, fatigue, and that all of those things are symptoms. They are not normal. I have 2 brothers that chain smoke. One of them spent the weekend at my house and I tell you I made him smoke outside but even my backyard smelled. Here he is choking up a lung and lighting one after another. I just let it go it has to be his choice. sometimes when I am at the coffee shop by my house, I sit and talk to some of the people outside who are smoking. There is a few that light up and immediately start to cough after the first drag. I always say, with a smile, of course, "have another cigarette". They always laugh it off. Everyone has to face it someday..that day was just not their day. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 137 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,288 Amount Saved: $685.00 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 22 Mins: 11 Seconds: 1

Thank you for the reminder. Being around smokers reminds me I don't have to do that anymore and I smell nice now. In fact twice in the last few days I have someone comment on how nice I smell. Fortunately for you, you are not there anymore! It is heartbreaking to see this people hurting themselves. Knowledge is power and determination will get you there. It would be amazing if we could just stop those smokers and preach to them. It's never that easy. Josie, Support Specialist

hiya stickin How very sad for that young lady! I hope she comes to her senses. However, there is nothing that anyone else can do, as it has to be her choice. Cigarettes Not Smoked

17 years ago 0 1985 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Second time I saw this unfortunate young lady at work, she must be about 35, coughing fairly hard as she is hurrying to finish off her cigarette. I gazed into her eyes and could see that smoking was killing her off. I hate seeing this. She probably is not aware of her health or that she coughs. It is just normal for her. I passed by her last week, she was smoking and coughing and reeked heavily of cigarette smoke. It bothers me so young an age to be hacking.
