in need of some help

16 years ago 0 288 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
thank you all so much for your replies. i got through the day and when i got home i made myself stay out of bed and i actually got some things done. i am off from work for the next 2 days so i think i will think of a nice reward and pamper myself. my poor husband has not had a decent meal all week and has been taking the brunt of my irritability. i will be making a nice meal tomorrow and will keep myself occupied enough to stay out of bed. i get down on myself when things don't get done but at the same time i don't have the energy to do anything...its like a catch-22. i know there is alot of truth to exercising being good for moods, i had been walking at least 30 minutes a day and this past week i haven't been mainly because of the rain. i will get through this with a little help from my friends. i think the chocolate may work too, i'm going to get some tomorrow...lol thank you all for your suggestions, i'm going to try them all! i'm glad i came here today, i should have done it sooner, but i tried to do it on my own and i know now that the support i get here is what i need. sometimes it just hard asking for help. this too shall pass! Star Great to hear from you! And to hear that you are still smoke-free. Those reward centers of the brain sound like they are crying out to be fed. I agree with everyone else. Give yourself something that makes you feel good. If you can muster up the energy, do something active. Lainey swears by B vitamins. If you can't get active, watch a funny movie. Laughter always helps. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water. And remember, this feeling will pass, whether you smoke or not. We want you to keep succeeding as you have. 41 days is a big, big deal!!!!! You can get through this, starrider. It's just a little bit of BLAH, it happens. It won't last long. Everybody's suggestions are exactly right, especially the reward & the exercise. Spoil yourself a little bit & have some fun. You'll feel better. Hang in there Starrider! Use your tools that you used those first weeks and be tough. Don't let one little cigarette run your life! Deep breaths, distractions, and rewards all help! You will get thru it and it does get oh so much better very soon! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 215 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,375 Amount Saved: $2,268.25 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 6 Mins: 59 Seconds: 59

Hey Mustquiteer! I've been wondering where you were! Glad you are still smoke-free and determined to stay that way. I'm sorry you are having a rough time of it. It stinks all the stages and difficulites we have to go through. It's worth it though because we only have to do it once and then we are better for it forever. Are you exercising at all? Exercise is really good for your mental health. It's really good for your mood. I know it's hard to get motivated to go out and exercise when you feel down but, make yourself do it and you will feel so much better. I guarantee it! Hope today is a much better day for you!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,260 Amount Saved: $245.70 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 18 Mins: 58 Seconds: 55

40 days is something to be proud of and a reward wouldn't hurt either!! This is normal and you can combat it! Get out those coping mechanisms again if needed and hold strong to your resolve. Are you rewarding and treating yourself, do so and feel the relaxation sink in! We are behind you! Josie, Support Specialist

How about a little something special for yourself today? Perhaps it's time for a reward. Is there a fun event going on in your town this weekend? How about calling up a friend and planning a great dinner? Maybe a visit to a nearby park and a walk? Changing your location, changing your routine, changing your perspective can do wonders when you hit a slump. Good luck!
