You can do this! I have been in several situations already and made it through. When you are done with this great occasion, and you did it smokefree - treat yourself. As you are driving home, think about the night, and smile. Pat yourself on the back and give yourself a reward!
you can do this, and I can't wait to hear how you made it!

Mamma,
You will do great because you want to do great!!!
I just got home from my first big party with lots of drinking, but lucky for me.. very few people were smoking..
I read your post about staying instead(before I left for the party). So I kinda had a plan to stay indoors, but the back yard was where the party was.... going on.. I am talking open bar, band, New Orleans food... what a PARTY!!!
I guess I just wanted to NOT smoke more that I wanted to smoke..
Yea, I was really worried..
Good luck ar your wedding and have fun as a non smoker..\
PS
The smokers that ask me to join them were openly wishing they could quit,
It made me feel great about my decision...
Congrats to all of us

Hi Mamma D,
I had to attend a wedding on day 7 of my quit. I was very anxious about it for days before. I did just what Unhooked said and prepared, visualized in my mind the people I knew and the smoking we've done together and how it was going to be different this time. It was very helpful. I also made a decision ahead of time to not drink. However, I did end up having two drinks while I was there and noticed my resolve to not smoke getting a little weak during the second drink. I ended up leaving a bit early because of it. I recommend staying away from the alcohol.
I also decided ahead of time to stay inside instead of socializing outside. I think that make a huge difference because I didn't really even think about smoking as long as I was inside and occupied.
Have a great time at the wedding. As long as you remember how much you DON'T want to smoke, you will be just fine. :)

Yes, Mamma D, the lightheadness is pretty common & it will pass.
Besides what Lainey said, try visualizing yourself at the wedding, having a great time and not smoking. Picture what you will do instead. Maybe dance more?
Have a great time, come back & tell us how proud of yourself you are and how much fun you ahd!

Lots of us had sleepy, foggy, lightheadedness the first couple of weeks, it does go away. Plan ahead for the wedding MammaD, take some printouts along of your favorite inspirational threads to read if you have any cravings. Take it easy and just think of how proud you will be on Monday when you tell us that you made it through without smoking! Have fun! :)
