Acid Reflux

16 years ago 0 7 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I've had acid reflux for years and years and have taken meds for it daily. Actually smoking increases acid reflux so if you're getting it now it isn't going to get any better if you smoke, it will get worse.

bea, I suffer in general with acid reflux. But..... we all may experience a little more heartburn as we may be eating more....and eating different things (in our quest to keep our mouths busy..LOL) Just a thought. If you've got a bit of the acid reflux I'm sure you know not to lay on your right side? The weirdness of quitting may have made you forget this. Your stomach just dumps acid into your esophagus when you do and it really can be uncomfortable. congrats on your fab 5 days smoke free. I just used Tums once in a while when I got heart burn. It is weird, because I rarely got heartburn before I quit. Just stay smoke free! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 113 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,712 Amount Saved: $565.00 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 14 Mins: 50 Seconds: 40

Hey Bea! I did have nasty heartburn , but not until further along in my quit. (After I was off the patch) I used an over the counter ant acid to help with it. It did last a couple of weeks! You're doing great! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 195 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,875 Amount Saved: $2,057.25 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 19 Mins: 1 Seconds: 58

Bea32, Acid reflux is not a listed withdrawal symptom, however it is not uncommon among new quitters. Keep utilizing your home remedies, if they fail or the symptom persists/worsens, consult your doctor. He/she is the best authority to assist you in determining whether this symptom is related to quitting or if it has been masked by smoking. Hope you feel better soon. I was just wondering if anyone experienced an increase in Acid Reflux or heartburn? Is this a withdrawl symptom? It came on for me last night, it's subsiding but I was just curious, I'm trying to keep track of it all. Thanks Bea I have been quit for 4 Days, 11 hours, 8 minutes and 49 seconds (4 days). I have saved $8.92 by not smoking 53 cigarettes. I have saved 4 hours and 25 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 9/11/2007 4:00 AM
