Hello Mercy, and Friends, I quit here in March 10th, 2003, and You want me to pick and Idol Who pursuaded me the most, I honestly can't do it, My Sister Lala, stirred me in the direction of this website, But I had at least 125 people and friends Who encouraged and influenced me over the 2 years I was on this website, And somewhere here in my computer room, there are like a list of all the names of Quitters Who stood beside me, I hope You can pick out just one individual, But I Can't, Wouldn't want too, Yes Mercy, I had lot's and lot's of Motivator's, Or I would still be on the Outside looking inn, Smokless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1648 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 49,440 Amount Saved: $7,053.44 Life Gained: Days: 385 Hrs: 9 Mins: 56 Seconds: 6

I love posts like this. The success stories are amazing. I suppose you could say I had a co-worker who inspired me. My main reason for quitting was my father. At the time he lived with us and he is a 3 pack a day smoker. I would wake up in the middle of the night and hear him coughing and not able to get his breath for long periods of time. He would be in one room of the house and I another and I could hear him gasping for air. I decided I didn't want to sound like that or to have that hard of a time breathing. I thought about quitting for probably more than 6 months before I took the plunge. I mentioned to a co-worker that I was thinking of quitting and she told me she quit 15 years ago. She said she still loves the fresh smell of a new pack being opened (her hubby smokes) but she wouldn't go back for nothing. I thought wow! Other people have quit and succeeded. I wanted to quit. I was tired of the reviews that said your work is excellent but you take too many smoke breaks. I was also tired of hiding from everyone (I was a closet smoker). It feels so good to be free of that enslavement. My life now belongs to me and not the cigarettes and the tobacco companies. yep Mercy, my story is the same as yours right down to the co-worker except she quit May 2006 AND lost 80 pounds AND kept it off. I was super jealous of her quit, she tried to talk to me too about quitting and all I heard was blah blah blah. We share an office, she used the patch also - but she had a real hard time with it. I started thinking about quitting watching her do this, she changed her life, her entire way of eating and living and is feeling so much better for it. but the kick start to my quit was John coming in from the Dr saying he was going to quit with chantix and was starting next week. I called my Dr also and got a prescription that very day. I couldn't let him have all the fun without me ;p Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 132 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,320 Amount Saved: $231.00 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 14 Mins: 39 Seconds: 39

Did you have a non smoking idol? Two years ago there was this girl at work. I didn't know her too well. She was a pretty hard core smoker. She decided to quit. I was shocked. She used the patch when she went on vacation. She came back to work not smoking. She had told me that one day she got home from work and realized her patch had come off and she didn't even know it. So..... she didn't bother to put one one again. She remained quit and didn't seem to have too difficult of a time. She said when she thought about smoking she told herself..."I don't do that anymore." I was not only impressed but amazed that she quit. To tell you the truth.....I was a little jealous. No....allot jealous. Especially that I had tried to quit so many times and failed. I wanted to be like her....successful. I talk to her occasionally at work and she is still smoke free two years later. Little does she know the impact she had on me. Perhaps I should tell her. Was there someone that made a big impact on you?
