After just signing in, I noticed that since I have been done the patch (four months ago now) I have to sign in as cold turkey. So technically, all of us who used NRT's eventually become cold turkey quitters anyway. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 192 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,800 Amount Saved: $2,025.60 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 12 Mins: 19 Seconds: 21

Wow, these are some really thoughtful responses, you guys! I agree with windy that it's awesome that we all agree on it not mattering how it gets done as long as it does. You are all freakin' gorgeous! I also agree with Tom, the more patch quitters, the more nekkid parties!!! WOOHOO!!! Hello all, I went cold turkey but have used NRT in the past. It was kind of a sky hook as I recall. I still had the craves and all with the patches. Cold turkey worked for me this time, the quit is good and strong, but I don't think anything will work if you're not mentally up to it. One thing I can say for the patches is there's an opportunity for a nekkid treehouse party at the end!!!!!!!!! Exroller, that was a good point. I've used NRTs and failed but at the time it was the only way I could find the courage to quit. It wasn't the fault of the NRT but my own. I chewed the gum for nearly a year after the last quit and really don't know how long I made it after that before I started dipping, the junkie told me it was ok to dip, just another NRT! At least I wasn't smoking!! Ya right, dipping is a bit like licking ashtrays and I wound up smoking again anyway. Smoking cessation can be a long and difficult road. Any tool you can use is a good tool. Every time you quit you get better at it. This time I was able to go cold turkey and this time I'm going to beat it. tam For me it is a moot point...It has been all about changing the mind and outlook, then about any specific way of doing it. You must quit from the inside out. This is more than merely the cessation of an overt act (smoking)...This has to do with how we deal with the trials and tribulations that are at the core of our beings. Change of any sort is hard. For humans, behavioral changes are the most difficult. In many we ways we are the things we do. As addicts one of those things is smoking. So in effect when we quit we change who we are. That is scary, we are comfortabal with who we have been for so long. However, once we realize that we can become so much better by not smoking, we do. If on the other hand we feel that we are depriving ourselves of something (smoking) we will not quit regardless of what methods we choose to do so... It is a mind game and we play it with ourselves, the physical part can be handled with relative ease, being at home in your own mind is much more difficult...But IT CAN BE DONE... Stay strong and quit nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 262 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,860 Amount Saved: $1,834.00 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 19 Mins: 24 Seconds: 12
