Should be a wakeup call

Blue Cloud ~ Hold on very tight... when we love someone, we want to help - to fix... to rescue... And we can't... I know you know this... Let it go and allow him to find his way to what he needs to do. Each of us makes our own decisions and hard as it is, heartbreaking as it is, we cannot change or control what another does or decides... As Lady says - take loving care of YOU right now... Protect your quit... and send him Light and love... Hey, blue cloud. I am so impressed with your incredible quit & awesoem attitude. I alway love to see a tough broad kicking ash & you are so that! Unfortunately, we can't say what somebody should or should not do or what might be right for them, no matter how much we love them. All we can do is what is right for us and keep loving them. We can hope that they will follow our example and find the strength in themselves that we found in ourselves, we can hope that they will let us light the way for them, we can pray that they will want to go with us. But in the end, it's up to them & I hate to say it but it's true. Sometimes we have to let them take their own road. You are in my thoughts & in my heart, blue cloud. I have enormous respect & admiration for your heart & your guts. You have earned every day of your quit by sheer toughness, hanging in & bullheadedness. I love that & I love you. Blue Cloud, I have spent most of my adult life dealing with other peoples addiction. I didn't consider my smoking an addiction either until I came here and learned about what it really was. Along this journey, I have also learned about co-dependency. I think that plays a part in why our quits are emotional. We are use to "fixing" everything and become dependent on helping others. Continue to take care of YOU. You are on the right track and don't let anyone derail your train. You are remarkeable and no one can take away all that you have accomplished in the last 60 plus days. Stick by what you know is right and don't be a victum to the cigarette or to anyone elses addiction either. It really does boil down to choice. You can only make choices for yourself. You can't make them for anyone else. Like I keep saying, It's a soul searching, life changing experience. One day at a time. You are doing fine. Keep putting one foot in front of the other and reach out here when you need help. We are all here for you. Thanks to you all, I am trying to stay away from the situation. He will be leaving tomorrow to return to his job. Today he is drinking and chewing tobacco. I am holding tight to my quit. It seems to me this is a prime example for let go and let God. BC, Unfortunately, some never get the wake up call they need, we hope that's not the case here. The best thing you can do for him and to not end up in the same boat is to KTQ. You are in our thoughts. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Hi blue cloud, Maybe you could speak to the dr. and have him do a follow up call to your partner..emphasizing the importance of quitting smoking for people whith copd. How his blood pressure will go down the very first day, the oxygen in his blood will go up, his heart will not be beating so fast, his cough will get better and then disappear, how if he quits, his copd will not escalate into dragging an oxygen tank around everywhere. If he hears this from a dr., maybe it will make a bigger impression. But, you stay smoke free! you do not want any of that in your life any longer. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 105 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,520 Amount Saved: $525.00 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 12 Mins: 50 Seconds: 28
