Hey Doodles you are doing great. And I always see comments about the nozzely thing and don't know what that means. Is it the thing on top of some water bottles or the nic inhaler or what? I'm about to quit the patch or go to 7 mg tomorrow if I need to and buy it. I will miss the dreams and the itch I have learned to live with but it really has helped this time. NONIC thanks... I am so ready for this to be a distant memory.. Sometimes I just want to scream & usually it's my poor children. I have started running again (1/2 mile at a time) not anything earth shattering.. gotta start somewhere.. picked up new running shoes.. can't wait to try them out... have to wait til very late.. it is 95++ degrees here in the south. I hope this new adventure (Being Healthy) stays forever.. No fads, just facts. If I want to feel healthy & keep up with my young children. I have to stay smoke free & exercise My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $45.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 15 Mins: 37 Seconds: 24

Doodles Good for you, you are taking the long view on this...That is the way to move forward...It really is one day at a time, but in the back of the mind, we must never forget that we are creating better futures four ourselsves...There is no upside to smoking...There is only a momnetary satisfaction followed by a slow decent back to our former dependent selves. I don't ever want to be a victim, and really I am not a victim to cigarettes. I chose to smoke and now I must do what is necessary to change that decision. I promise you this, as you go further down the line, smoking will become a real choice. In the early days of my quit, it haunted me like an old memory that just would not go to land of the forgotten. But slowly, as I taught myself to choose day by day that memory lost its power and I gained new powers to leave by past way of being in the past... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 258 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,740 Amount Saved: $2,709.00 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 2 Mins: 22 Seconds: 5

Hang in there doodles and starrider... (I feel like it's okay for me to encourage you both now because I've been in this spot a few times and I know for a fact that you'll be just fine:) Stick to your resolve to quit and you will certainly be rewarded each day for your efforts. It really is just one day at a time, and it does get better each day you commit. I still have my struggles, but if I look them square - I can usually uncover and see my mistake in relating smokes to situations. My triggers are usually stress related so I take a deep breath and try to visualize how not being able to take a full, deep breath would make a difference in the situation... and it doesn't. Air is just great - plain:) ...and water ain't bad either:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 375 Amount Saved: $93.75 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 59 Seconds: 46

nonic & Marie thanks for the encouragement.... This whole thought process that I have going on in my head is nuts!! I can not believe those stupid cigs that I picked up as a teenager has done this to my body & my mind.... I should just be thankful that I am smoke free for 2 FULL weeks!! Need to look at the rest as one day at a time. Doodles Hang in there my friend, you are fighting with an illusion...But sadly because we have trained ourselves to hide in the smoke, it is all to real for us addicts...You will not reduce your stress by smoking, you will, however, believe that by inhaling the stuff your stress has been relieved...In a sense it has, but it is the stress created by the ingestion and then the lack of nicotine that is being relieved...Any stress that has accumulated as a result of ordinary human existance still remains...Let it go, there is no future in it... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 257 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,710 Amount Saved: $2,698.50 Life Gained: Days: 46 Hrs: 21 Mins: 46 Seconds: 59

It does get better promise. The first time I read this line here on SSC, I was really miserable, in the beginning of the quit, I don't remember who wrote this to me!!! but it gave me so much hope. It was so true, it really does get better. one day at a time My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 452 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,684 Amount Saved: $2,938.00 Life Gained: Days: 59 Hrs: 23 Mins: 35 Seconds: 15
