One of my biggest worries when I quit was that coffee and smoking were so closely related that I couldn't have one without the other. How very wrong I was! Coffee is one of the great loves of my life (fancy gourmet coffee of course) and I find myself drinking more of it and enjoying it more and often have a cup after meals instead of a smoke. I LOVE my coffee and haven't given it up. Instead of going outside to have a smoke with my coffee, I toast a bagel, grab my coffee and come to read the boards :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 30 Amount Saved: $18.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 43 Seconds: 26

Kelly, I felt the burn thing too, and was secretly happy about that at the time... I understand. Eat spicy stuff if you can handle it until you're feeling more confident. Rooster sauce (sriracha sauce)is excellent. Then, suck on a dark chocolate square before bed... and try walking early in the morning before everyone else gets up if you can... Garlic and red pepper are our friends:) Hang on tight... it gets easier the harder you try... OK, kelly, you're some kinda "burn" freak or something. BUT whatever works for you. If scalding the back of your throat on a regular basis helps you stay quit, rock on! :) Personally, I chewed on coffee straws & drank water. That's just me, though. :8|: You look fabulous, keep it up. Hey Bold - Do you think the coffee mimics the heat you felt in the back of your throat when you smoked? I noticed when I was cutting down that I really felt the "burn" in my throat everytime I inhaled. What I'm going to say now is really twisted but...I really like that feeling. I get it from my tea and coffee now (now that I can feel it) and I am very conscious of the feeling. Lol this may sound kind of strange but I use to hate coffee while I was smoking, but since i've stoped smoking one of my new addictions is drinking coffee every morning I guess it just gives me something to do early in the morning now rather then smoking a cig :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 35 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 525 Amount Saved: $150.94 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 17 Mins: 47 Seconds: 22
