You got a lot of good advice. I can't expand on it any better or wiser. Just wanted to drop a line and let you know I am thinking about you. Yahoo Mama!!!! To be honest, I actually fretted alot about my post to you after I replied. I in NO WAY was assuming Papakitty is a bad guy, I just heard alot of the old me in you. Glad to hear you are becoming more assertive and that you kept your quit! Isn't that lack of cigarette breath wonderful? The first day I noticed it, I blew my nasty morning breath in my husband's face - poor guy! But I was so dang excited. You are doing great and I am soooo glad everyone here was able to help you. I can tell from your posts that you are a very special person! Have a great evening and weekend! The sun came up today, and I didn't have the extra stinky cigarette breath this morning. Just regular stinky. You're right Lainey. Today is another day and another chance... and I didn't smoke. Thank you all for the great help and each of these posts... I feel tons better. Not smoking in stressful situations is a tremendous self esteem builder. In the heat of things when I was told to "just go away and smoke" I didn't want to smoke. I just wanted to deal with the real problem, and I couldn't alone. ImaQuitter, my hubby doesn't smoke, but I think the non smoking me is getting more assertive. I used to just go smoke when I wasn't being heard anyway. Now I have to deal with finding the right words to help us communicate in hard situations somehow. Thanks for reminding me that it's okay to want or need something from someone else, and for being here when I did:) Lolo, blue cloud, Danielle and Rusty, you are great coaches and friends. Nobody likes change except a wet baby. I can't change anybody but myself and I want to do it right. Maybe if I feel rejection again I'll just fire it back at my smoking thoughts instead... Lainey, you're wisdom is true and I reflect on that. I love truth whether it feels good or not. boxerfan and Phil, thanks for the great hugs all the way from here to England:) I hope you had a good day off Alohakeia. I know you need that, and I just appreciate you... You were right. I was taking time for myself, and had a nice long cry with papakitty on the porch swing. I'm trying to learn to express myself and let him know that I need to be heard too. Unhooked, your first post here made me laugh. I love your spunky and direct way to my heart. Sadness is a huge trigger, but I made it and I am proud of myself for not smoking. The treehouse is beautiful, I love my nails today. Elvis rocks and I'm sorry about the Haagen Dasz that I thought I could hold in... Tresa did an awesome job on my hair:) Nonic, your words are wise and comforting. Thank you for taking the time you did to share great thought with me. None of it was wasted. I'm thankful for this safe place to be myself, and receive healthy support from some of the highest quality people on the planet... mamakitty Sorry to hear that you are in a temporary down space. I am not qualified to comment on this, as I am the a loner by nature and I suppose have not had the experience of a close relationship, such as yours, in years. But I do understand that when humans enter into such a relationship, mutual emotional support becomes both a benefit and a from time to time a point of much pain. From what I know of you, I have to say that you have no reason to feel poorly about yourself. You have been brave beyond words to hunger for and participate in your liberation from smoking. Your strength in this area gives me every reason to believe that at your core is a strong and resourceful person, who can accept love. be loved and at the same time carry on stoically when your partner travels his own road. Hang in there during this difficult time and your reward will be magnified exponentially by the minutes you must spend dealing with the emotional pain...Stay well my friend, you are stronger than you know... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 243 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,290 Amount Saved: $1,701.00 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 9 Mins: 17 Seconds: 58

MK, Never be sorry to ask for help when you need it. It sucks to be rejected. It hurts. Be sad and then let it go. Keep the focus on you and be kind to yourself to make yourself feel better. We hope that today is a better day for you. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I have noticed that I feel rejected when I am relying on someone else to provide my self-worth. I fall into the downward spiral of feeling sorry for my self, blaming the other person, focusing on me, me, me, and that endless monologue in my head. Sometimes it's really hard to pull myself out of that. All that negative self-focus. But when I am able to change the negative self-focus to positive self-image...that's when I can get rid of all that. It's me who becomes responsible for how I am feeling. The other person can figure it out for himself. MK, I know what a stressor lonely can be. I almost wrote the book on lonely before I found this site. And Men, I have been married to one for 43 years that I can't live with. To long a story to tell. Some people never grow up and it makes it hard for us to hang along with them and grow on our own. Never the less that is what we must do. Grow on our own. Smoking will not change anything but your own resolve. You don't want to so dont! All this advice from the one who cryed the first month and still does sometimes. heehee. It's working for me, I'm still smoke free! Hey mk Sorry i wasnt around earlier when you posted this. Wouldn't you know it...I take a day off and not here when you needed someone. I'm glad unhooked and everyone else was, though. I'm hoping that you didn't post anymore because you found another way to feel good other than smoking. There are plenty of them, you know ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 156 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,240 Amount Saved: $1,060.80 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 18 Mins: 29 Seconds: 44
