Mamakitty, Loneliness is an emotion we all experience in the quit. I'm glad to hear you hung on and didn't give in to the desire to smoke. You are doing great. Don't ever be afraid to reach out for help and don't ever apologize for doing so either! That is what this community is here for. Glad you are doing well. What a perfect end to my day... Three notes from some of the finest examples I know out here. I'm still quit, and if I wasn't proud of that fact I wouldn't be here flaunting about it. (It's fun to come back and post to say I've been true to myself and all of you) It really is a day by day process, but more than that. It's a kind of pact that we keep with one another that seems to work. I care enough about all of you to be faithful. You give me vision and hope. Thanks... Some days are easier than others, but when the ugly ones come, it sure is nice to know that my reward might be a virtual pat on the back from people like you... Newbies, I hope you find hope, friendship and guidance here. My biggest wish is to find my remaining 2 smoking but very cool brothers here someday:) Oh I don't think they'd be surprised to find "kitty" in my name. We all grew up on a great farm:) But dang-it bro #4, if you E-ver spin one of my kitties on the floor again just for a reaction, I'll give you a different one|:) Love you all... Here's to the flame of hope and promise, mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 195 Amount Saved: $48.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 8 Mins: 7 Seconds: 19

Hey Mammak! You're right about being more assertive when we quit. We are more aware of our feelings and haven't drowned them in nicotine and smoke, so our hubbies/families everywhere have to get used to that! As a matter of fact, its has become a part of the new me that I enjoy, feeling my feelings and saying whatever I need to say, instead of drowning it in smoke! The further I go in this quit, the more I feel like the old me, the real me and it's all good! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 174 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,350 Amount Saved: $1,835.70 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 6 Mins: 46 Seconds: 43

mamakitty I hope things are better today, even if it is just a tiny bit. Sometimes in this struggle all we have is just that one small flicker of hope on the horizon. The key is to see that and ignore the darkness that surrounds the flame. I am by no means an expert at this idea of positive cognition. The reason I feel so badly for you is that I understand just how difficult it is to accomplish. Never feel badly about asking people for help, you would be surprised to know how many people you help by being honest about the things that hurt. Someone may be reading this and say "oh yea I understand that" and that may just give them the key to over coming their own immediate situation....Stay well and quit... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 244 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,320 Amount Saved: $1,708.00 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 12 Mins: 54 Seconds: 15

Thanks Sparky, Tresa and Sue:) I did receive lots of great advice and wisdom... No need to fret ImaQuitter. (Congratulations on 1 week too:) You gave me a wonderful post, and it was more true and meaningful than you may think. That's the way it is here at the SSC it seems:) I'm glad we can meet here. I'm going to find at least one person to encourage tonight before bed too:) Goodnight... mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 165 Amount Saved: $41.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 34 Seconds: 55
