Duffis - my aunt has done the Canadian train trip several times and says it is her favorite trip (and she has been around the world). My husband and I are BIG travelers - at least 1-2 trips a year to enjoy the scenery. I love Maine in the fall (which someone said would come this year although I'm not sure with this heat!), Montana and Wyoming are beautiful if you enjoy wide open spaces. Alaska and Banff Canada are little pieces of heaven as well. But my favorite (which I am sure is due to my love of wine) is Napa Valley. Fresh cool air, wine, great food - you can't beat it! Oh, and I had better include TN since that is where we live half the time and its beauty is ageless. Good for you and Pete - I hope you enjoy no matter where you go. Let me settle all of this right now...I have always thought it would be cool to take a cruise down the Mississippi River. Of course I have never done this, it is just a suggestion! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 227 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,405 Amount Saved: $953.40 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 1 Mins: 51 Seconds: 44

Thank you all and some great ideas do emerge from the community as I knew they would. Audrey we are in between Asheboro and Greensboro so we are only about an hour and a half away. It might be possible to catch a game later on. Thanks for the imput. Duffis & Pete, While I probably cannot suggest a place you've not been before, it seems we share approximately the same diggs. I am from Raleigh/Durham and I would be honored to sometime meet the man behind the mind and his lovely wife! Maybe we can catch a Bulls game sometime :) Audrey My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 219 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,380 Amount Saved: $613.20 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 9 Mins: 9 Seconds: 32

Pete, I've been here almost a month! Of Course I've found a beautiful course!!!! How does a 9 hole par 3 on a mountain side sound??? We can all walk it now that we don't smoke!!! Are you and Duffis up for a game with me and the boys??? Sounds like a great time to me! Can't wait to see you both! We can take in the mountain views and maybe a musical too! We have our own players theater here. I'm loving it! Train trips used to be one of my faves....but not sure on the comfort level anymore...but you sure get to see a lot of beautiful places without the hassle of driving and nice to be able to get up and move around, and other peeps to chat with if you want. I drove up the Natchez Trace this spring for about 600-800 miles. That was beautiful and I would imagine in the fall it's gorgeous. I would have liked to have spent more time exploring there. Saw a gator up close, sunning itself on a little sand spit in the middle of a creek. You can't beat Big Sur in California for ocean splendor in my opinion. Plus the redwoods. That's another nice road or train trip...up the Pacific coast. Did that once too...up to Vancouver Island..I agree, Lainey...beautiful and peaceful....altho we did deal with some angry bees out on a wharf one day,if I recall rightly....lolol. Oh! And what are those islands called around there? that looks like fun, sailing around there. Duffis and Pete, traveling is in my Big Reward plans too..this is making me think about it more seriously My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 154 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,160 Amount Saved: $1,047.20 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 12 Mins: 49 Seconds: 17

Duffis you and Pete could come to the beautiful state of Oklahoma. The southeastern corner is home of beautiful lakes and Mountians. Oklahoma is celebrating it's one hundredth year. Next door is Texas and you know how big that state is. and another neighbor is Arkansas, home of the Hot Springs (highly recommended) and the Orzak Mts. If you are driving this would be the long way to Canada.LOL BLUE CLOUD My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,000 Amount Saved: $200.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 17 Mins: 6 Seconds: 29

There are a number of places in the US that are quite spectacular. Here are a few: Yellowstone (on top of a super volcano), the Grand Canyon, the redwoods in California, Bronner's Christmas store in Frankenmuth, MI (if you're into Christmas stuff and German food), Colonial Williamsburg, VA, Lake Powell, AZ, Monument Valley, UT, and the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. These are some of my favs. I tend toward outdoors & nature, if you didn't notice. :) Not really sure what your preferences are.
